NEws on Nomar leaving Boston is getting hotter by the minute and by talking about hot he just might be heading somewhere hot. Yes Nomar might be in Texas before the year is over. Nomar might be sporting a Rangers uniform in which a 3 way deal is to look good. Boston will send Nomar along with Alan Embree and Kim with cash (7 Million) to Rangers for Alfonzo Soriono in which Texas will send Kenny Rogers to the Mets in turn Boston send 5 Million to Mets for Tom Glavine, yes Glavine. So Red Sox fans what do you think about have Alfonso play 2b and Pokey at SS.

Have you heard this one yet?:

Sox get Delgado and Odalis Perez

Jays get Izturis and pitching prospect(s)

Dodgers get Nomar and Kim

Wow, they want Nomar out bad.

I actually LOVE this idea:

Soriano's just as good with the bat as Nomar. Tons of ability.

Glavine's a big-game pitcher.

Theo....do this one!

All I have to say is - holy s***. Did I understand this deal? We get Glavine and Soriano? That is SO tempting... as much as I love Nomar. (and yes, I do still love Nomar. Sorry.)

No apologies needed. I still really dislike the idea of seeing Nomar in another uniform.....but we got used to it with Roger Clemens, Mo Vaughn, Wade Boggs, etc.

To bring in a pitcher, and a run producer....it would be hard not to pull the trigger on a deal like that.

Yeah, wasn't too hard to get rid of Mo-Food Vaughn. He sure did well in a Met uniform.

The Mets are not giving up Glavine. Why would they do that when they are looking for a starter? We are still in the race.

Texas will not give up Soriano. The Rangers are contenders, why would they give up a hitter of that caliber?

There is no relevance in that trade.

Noah,

The Rangers would be getting Nomar, who replaces Soriano. Plus it frees them of the financial burden of Soriano's arbritration next year, while still competing this year. Of course this is speculation, but the Rangers would be getting Embree (quality reliever) and Kim who could contribute in a less-pressure situation.

What I don't get is the Mets dealing (essentially) Glavine for Rogers and cash. Didn't they already try Rogers and he did poorly for the Mets?

As a Red Sox fan I love the trade...but from the Mets' perspective it doesn't make a lot of sense.

RedSoxFan, do you have a source on this?

Check on Mets fan site ( search on yahoo) and the mets gm said he loved to see Rogers in a Mets uniform a second time around and that they need money becuase they want to make a run at Beltran

yea then this thing means nothing...and it will never happen...why the heck would texas give up their best player and pitcher for embree kim and nomar?

I dont really like the trade, but I can explain the reasoning:

Embree- Great reliever who just HAPPENS to be in a funk right now

Kim- Good reliever, soon to be great starter who can pitch effectively right now

Nomar- Great shortstop, despite what sox fans say

Soriano- Great 2b/ss.

The trade seems to make sense to me

i dont think it makes any sense at all...especially with the rangers being a contender in the west...they wouldnt give there 2 best away for 2 average pitchers and 1 good SS

I missed last nights game. So they were talking about nomar and I was RREAALLY confused. Thanks for straightening it out ^_^ But... he's my player >_

2 hits for Nomar tonight... nice.

What is the source for this rumor? If it's true, then the Sox have no reason NOT to pull the trigger!!!

I also like the Nomar for Clement/Mitre deal, but I'd take Soriano in a heartbeat!!!

Its against the rules of baseball to give money in a trade (more than I think 1.5 mil)

It's against the rules, but people do it all the time....they just find ways to bend them.

No news on the Nomar front at all....I think actually things have cooled off on Nomar and he'll probably be here (in Boston) until the end of the 04 season.

Not sure about after that though....

This trade dosn't really look fair to Texas in my eyes Soriano is a better hitter than Nomar, Nomars in a walk year and on top of that they give up their best pitcher all while they are in first place? I love the idea I jsut don't see it. I like the Matt Clement for Nomar deal though that would be good. We have to trade Nomar though it is obvious that he is not resigning.

yes yes a trade would be nice....but if nothing ends up happening the sox have shown interest in next years FA...edgar renteria. if nomar doenst get traded watch out for renteria...hes a great SS and many say the best in the NL, which he may possibly be.
