Whats the scariest on-field thing you've ever witnessed at a game you attended? I was at the game against the marlins where the sox scored 10 runs before the first out was recorded, great game, but thats besides the point. In the 7th a screaming line drive smacked the marlins pitcher (I forget his name now, I feel terrible), in the side of the head. He was carted off the field in the dead silence of the stadium. It wasnt as bad as Florie's incident, because that involved blood and wriggling on the ground and permanent eye damage, but it was still chilling to see.

I can't remember anything scary happening at a game I went to, but out the games I watched on Tv I can think of the Florie incident, Damon colliding with Jackson, Cubbage collapsing, and the Clemens-Piazza incident.

I was at that game with yeszir, it scared the living hell out of me. But a close number two was the Damon/Jackson collision, I honestly thought Johnny was dead. Or broken his neck, something awful like that, I don't even want to talk about it.

the worst thing i've ever seen was florie getting hit in the eye...wat made that worse is, last year, while pitching for my high school, i got hit in the eye and missed three weeks

I was at the Brcye Florie game. That was horrible. I hope that never happens to anyone ever again. It was dead silence in the park for a few minutes, everyone was utterly freaked out. :(

The worst incident I saw, was either the Florie incident, or I watching the game where they announced the death of Daryl Kyle, I think my heart might have stopped for a moment

Yeah that was terrible. I was in an airport on my way to Albany, NY (don't ask), and they had those TVs in the terminal and they had on CNN and they said before going too commercial that they had news that baseball fans will somber over or something and I though they were talking about the could've been strike that was swirling in 2001. Then they came back and showed Joe Girardi and Wrigley crying and saying into the mic that there was a death in the Cardinals' family and it was Daryl Kile. My heart kind of stopped. It was scary.

The Daryl Kyle thing was indeed terrible. I remember seeing it on ESPN for the first time. I thought it was a cruel joke. And I remember his adorable little son hanging out with the team for the months following it.

:(

Yeah, believe it or not I was almost in tears when I saw him with his little son, and when his children were at the funeral.

I was at a Mariners Game, when Arod used to play, and he got hit in the head and was on the ground for like 15 minutes...That was scary.

When Johnny Damon got ran into by Damien Jackson, that was scary too. I was wishing I was an ATC right then.

Not MLB, but our HS catcher got hit in the head with the bat and had a light concussion. And I WAS the ATC then, that was scary.

Surprise of all surprises, I was actually AT wrigley when Girardi announced that Kyle had died. It was my first visit to Chicago and wrigley. I was hoping to catch the game, but I understand that it was cancelled. That whole ordeal was so sad. :(

I don't remember the details of the game, like when it was or who else was involved, but I remember the Sox were playing the Yanks at Fenway some time ago and I had seats on the third base side in the lower grandstands. A bench clearing brawl broke out during the game and most of the action was between the mound and home plate. There were some smaller clusters of players/coaches near the Yanks' dugout and behind the mound but not much was going on there except some slightly heated arguing. Most of everyone's attention was on the pig pile between the mound and home when all of a sudden Coke Boy Strawberry comes out of the dugout where he'd been hiding and cold cocks someone from behind in the small crowd near Yankees' dugout. It sounded like raw liver hitting the sidewalk from where I was sitting. A new brawl ensued over there. I forget who he suckered, but me and about 1/2 of the people in the stands who saw it wanted to go down there and end Strawberry.

Whoa, what are the odds of that. To take in a game at Wrigley would be awesome. But I still like fenway more. :D

As you said, albeit in a much longer post than mine is bound to be ( :D ), we sox fans are more passionate than any others out there. Sure Cubs fans are great, just not as great as we are. Their ballpark may be a little more comfortable, but I wouldn't trade Fenway for the world.

And the comparisons you made were spot on. Its comforting to know that no matter how pathetic our drought is, the Cubs are even more pathetic. (patheticer?)

The Cubs do have a great team, and I don't have a problem with them. In fact, Kerry Wood is one of my favorite pitchers in baseball. I love Wrigley and respect it.

However, there are two sides of me on the Cubs.

One side is when you just bring up the Cubbies, their ballpark and fans, Harry Caray, Bricks and Ivy, etc... that kind of stuff when I'll say "Yeah, it's a great thing going on over there." - The other side is when you start talking about the Cubs beating the SOX in a World Series and just imaging how close we would come only to lose. It magnifies when I begin to think about all the guys we could lose after the season and that it might be the last chance for THIS team. That is when I get the feeling of hate for the Cubs.

I know what you mean. I get that feeling with every team. I'm watching a game and all that I can think of is that I'm watching the "other guys". The teams that want to beat the Red Sox and go on with their own personal agenda.

That sure takes the fun out of watching baseball games, lol.
