  1. Ill answer that at the end of September
  2. If his pitching continues like it has, that will NOT happen. And shouldnt.
  3. I believe Buch will win a spot. He will be back in the rotation full time.
  4. Assign whatever number you want to them. With The way they are pitching It doesnt matter too much. I dont disagree.
  5. A David Price who is looking like the David Price we got for 30M per, Rick Porcello pitching like a legit CY candidate all year, and now maybe we can add a Clay Buchholz that found his groove since being sent to the pen? Add in a solid #4 with Pomeranz and hopefully a consistent and healthy Erod....Either way, thats a solid looking 1-4 making a playoff run. Now, the bullpen? I think everyone should have their Xanax, high blood pressure meds, or whatever it is you do to "chill out" ready because its going to be a shitshow when the bullpen is called upon. Even with Kimbrel you dont know...I dont even think he knows where that 99MPH FB is going once it leaves his hand. Im praying the starters can go long and maybe the BP can put it together good enough to close it out. I dont trust our bullpen though.
  6. Depends on what they can get for him. With that said, i wasn't advocating trading him. Actually Ive been saying since his first time back from the pen that he should be back in the rotation. To me he looks like a different pitcher. It looks like The bullpen did do him some good...another 6.2 IP 7-8 hits and 1-2 runs...a healthy Clay whos in a groove is just what this rotation needs right now.
  7. If Buch finishes the season strong you absolutely pick up the option and then trade him. There was still interest in him this year from other teams even pitching the eay he was. GMs look at his stuff, a low 13M salary, and will think change of scenery will do him good...Sox would be foolish to not to do so, IF he does well the rest of the way.
  8. Hes still a 300 hitter. It all started because Farrell wore his ass down. Never gave him a day off for a long time. Hes still young and needs to sit every so often. Leave him alone and let him keep working through it. Hes not been as consistent, but hes still hitting good enough to keep the BA over 300.
  9. Am I the only one who has faith that Clay would and has pitched better after his bullpen stint, and wanted him back in the rotation? Glad to see him back in there and yes, I Still believe we will see the "Ace" Clay moving forward. Ok, maybe not Ace, but I say he will still have solid numbers going forward.
  10. I hope to see him playing soon. He was in he dugout.
  11. Hes played about 100 professional games at 20-21...he will be fine. Its not so much the mistakes as it is how he responds to them. He has work to do defensively and everyone knew that. His bat was/is his calling card. He's only been playing there a couple weeks, so Im not concerned at all...
  12. To me, it looked like he wasnt 100% back from the injury. Still needed to get the accuracy he had back with his throws and the offense was going to have to catch up. Hes hitting really well on AAA and from all reports the D is back to where it was. As far as the whole tension with Management, I have no idea. Until theres solid proof of that Im not too concerned. I had zero issue with him being sent back to AAA to get back into a groove again. Hes hitting the ball and looking like his old self again.
  13. Good seats. Have a great time. Get there early and check out all the cool bars and things surrounding Fenway.
  14. Well, I guess we won't get our preview tonight. General Farrell will stick to protocol (again) and make him sweat for a day or so. Dumbest psychological move he could make! Where does he get these golden rules, anyway? Hardly dumb and its done by a LOT of managers. Hes not sweating. That's silly man. Let him sit, watch, and learn for a day. Ask questions. See how fast the MLB game moves. There is absolutely nothing dumb about doing this. They did it with Benni too. Its common practice.
  15. Im hoping Farrell stops screwing around and put pitchers in their proper roles and starts using them correctly. Maybe Joe Kelly can help our pen out. I think he just needed a little time to get used to a bullpen role again. He was pretty good in that role with St.Louis. Tazawa should be forgotten about the rest of the year unless for a mop up role. When BZ returns he needs a set role. Hes had plenty of success vs LHH. Just because hes had a rough spell doesnt mean he cant do it anymore. Farrell hasn't a clue in that pen besides Kimbrel, And he screwed the pooch the other night with that not letting Kimbrel get four outs. Hed rather let Taz f*** thing up. Idiot. Kimbrel didnt throw a lot of pitches his last time out, and with a day off the next day there was no reason he didnt go four outs. Guys gotta step up and the Manager needs to make better decisions.
  16. Haha...big oops. Hes wearing 11 for Portland. Not that that means anything. Theyll give him a high number for sure. Do you think they will play him right off or let him sit for a game first?
  17. Wonder what number he will wear...72 I say
  18. Saw him make a couple diving grabs. Some issues with ground balls, but ones in the air seem easier for him right now. The game is going to be a lot faster so I would bring him up and let him sit on the bench for a game to watch, listen and learn. Then play him sat or sunday.
  19. Never said better at game calling and leadership, but that they were some of his strong points. That wasnt a compairison to Leon, who gets a lot of the same. Honestly, they seem to be very similar. Ive got on record to say I think a tandum of Vaz/Leon would be fine, but BOTH could be starters Imho.
  20. He could even lead off. Him and pedey seem to be somewhat similar with the bat, contact hitter with some power. Probably high BA and OBP with around 15-20 dingers a year. Benni has better speed and base stealing ability. Either way, we have a solid lineup.
  21. Exactly. Vaz and Swihart are opposites. Swihart would be a great switch hitting offensive catcher with a big bat who could be good enough to not be a liability behind the plate. Vaz would be the one pitchers loved to work with and runners feared. Only thing is he would probably be about a 250ish hitter with little power(although I have already gone on record as saying that in time Vaz would be better offensively than most think if given a starters job). Really, both are very valuable. Just depends who your talking to and what their team needs/preferences are.
  22. They need to be extra cautious with his injury. With Young and Holt we can get by just fine. Hes young so Im guessing it will get better fairly quick so returning before the season is over is a good possibility if it is just a sprain.
  23. I was pretty much dead wrong on what I thought they would do. Im excited that hes coming up and I have zero issue with it. Im not the kind that would compalin about doing this to certain prospects. I think the challenge of MLB pitching and the speed of the game will give us all a solid guage on where hes at with the bat and his D. Itll be good to know going into the winter if theres a good possibility he could break camp with Boston or not.
  24. He has been having issues as a RHH... Thats what the reports say. Hes needs more work. Moncada seems more natural as a LHH
