  1. Welcome to the forum WB... I think he had a day not oo long ago....but i agree that sometime during this tough schedule, most guys should get a day. When your in a little minor slump like you said of Bogey, its not too bad since hes still at 310-320BA... With Benintendi i dont mind the callup as long as he gets MOST of the reps in LF...no platoon. Hes batted well against BOTH R and LHP. If Farrell is going to go strict platoon then send the kid back to AAA...
  2. If they shift swi to then60 man that will clear a spot i believe Or a hanny "injury"
  3. They should let him get regular reps in AAA then...platooning the kid is doing nothing for his development...i had no objection to his promotion, but dont sit the kid every other game or vs LHP.
  4. Because Farrell is a tool and thinks he has to have L on L and R on R matchups pitching and opposite handed hitters all the time. He cant grasp the fact that some guys hit the same handed opponent well or can pitch just as good to the opposite handed opponent as the same handed...it frustrates me to no end.
  5. The sox arent asking for anything to change in the deal from what im hearing/reading, so it must not be a big deal. Alerting MLB is showing a recent pattern with AJ Preller and his possible shady business ethics...after the Marlins deal and now this one, MLB will probably hit them hard if they find evidence that they knew there were other possible issues with both Rea and Pomeranz.
  6. Yes, fairly routine moves and the players did their jobs. The night before there was zero reason to take Barnes out, who was painting 98 on the corners to a LHH seth smith...owned him...why the F do you pull the guy? I realize what the numbers said about Abad, but Barnes was ON, and when hes on he can get anyone out...he just fanned a power LHH for christ sakes...overthinking. Sometimes the numbers will make you overthink something thats otherwise obvious... baseball instincs
  7. Numbers cant Possibly take into account the human element. This is what some numbers people dont get. Not saying this about Kimmi as i have a great amount of respect for her, but still....
  8. Just like you thought with Bogaerts at SS? Hes already an average fielder from all reports. He needs work, but dont discount his ability to learn like you did Bogey.
  9. Different GM so you cant make that comparison...and hes right...no team would take a guy like Moncada and DH him as a regular to get him Abs...thats counterproductive to his development. Hes not saying YM wont play where they tell him, hes saying NO TEAM would do that to a kid like moncada...i agree it was the wrong move to bring Drew back, but that "has been"SS batted at a 777OPS the year before to help them win a WSC.
  10. What was your suggestion? He may get a sept callup, MAYBE. We could def see him next year at some point if his D at 3b gets better and he cam clean up his approach at the plate a bit...hes still a bit raw, but certainly could be in Boston next year fulltime...just have to lose the fat man at 3b...
  11. "It takes around 50 to 200 bad manager decisions (bullpen, pinch hitter, IBB, bunt, etc.) before he costs his team ONE win." Thats about 20lbs of ******** in a 10lb bag...all the numbers in the world can not convince me of that. Not.one.bit. Thay also have this thing called the "HumanElement" to baseball that no numbers can quantify. A "feel" for the game going on and your players in that game. This, Farrell isnt good at.
  12. Not mine...balance of both...a manager that doesnt manage his pitching staff well (Farrell) can really mess things up.
  13. You know from the bdc forum that ive never been a big Farrell fan. but luckily we dont have to really bash the guy. Just give it time and he will make another head-scratching move, or non move....
  14. Im sure ill get crap for this but... The other night when Barnes was painting 98 on the outside corner to a power LHH and handled him nicely, why in Gods name do you lift him? I understand the friggin numbers and all that, but Barnes was ON. It was a dumb move to lift him IMHO and I said it as it was happening. Even said I didnt care if Abad did good because it wasnt neccessary. They made up their minds before the game and no matter what was going on Abad was coming in. Farrell said so after the game. Why waste Barnes then? Just bring in Abad from the start...this whole L on L or R on R thing is way overblown. Barnes was a starter not 2 years ago. Pretty sure he can get LHH out too, as he did with Smith before Cano took the Lh specialist out of the park...ugh. Farrell just LOVES all the numbers, a little too much IMO. Need more of a balance. To me, He just doesnt seem to have a great "feel" for in game managing. especially pitchers. just one mans opinion.
  15. Promoting prospects mostly involves DD Hazen and The scouting dept...Farrell may have some say but he works with what hes given. I think DDs approach is much different than that of Ben or Theo in the past. Hazen is also GM now and hes been at the head of the scouting dept in Boston for a while now. Im sure he has more of a say this time around.
  16. Was thinking the same thing...I think one is speaking of final results and one is talking excitement and the possible start of a turnaround for the organization with the infusion of a young player (Nomar)
  17. some may be, but they shouldnt count on it right away. They should expect a learning curve and adjustment period. It may not be much of one, but its still very possible.... I really like the kid and think he will shine. Maybe not right off the bat, but when all is said and done hes going to be a solid MLB ballplayer..
  18. Probably a bit of both as they do usually try to do this on the road, but just happened that they didnt get someone at the dealine while on a roadtrip...
  19. Agree..i have no idea how he will do in Boston. Im going on what ive seen on the internet and live and things ive heard from the people that matter so far. Im expecting an adjustment period, but im also putting my money on the kid being successful and quite capable of making the needed adjustments.
  20. 948 1.011 976 And since his small 5 game adjustment period in AA 920 OPS Seems pretty dominant to me... K/BB ratios are outstanding Has great Mental makeup and baseball smarts Ill stick with saying hes been dominant in the minors so far
  21. And once again, with the lack of production and poor defense in LF what difference is a possible adjustment period going to make if much at all? We have one of the best offenses in the game and shoild be able to handle it....
  22. I like that they try to bring the kids up on the road...sucks its the WC, but less pressure than Boston
  23. Not sure, but it really doesnt matter in this situation? These moves are on a case by case basis. My guess is they would put him in AAA if there wasnt a need and bring him up in sept. But since our LF is a mess theres no reason Benni shouldnt get a shot with the way hes moved through the minors, as a LOT of scouts predicted.
