  1. Hamilton is a great sub. His split issues is all that keeps him from being a starter.
  2. 15th in position players, 2nd best rotation, and #5 BP? Pretty good for a team that still has their powder dry.
  3. Anything can happen, but last year, in all of baseball, there were only two players aged 34-37, that supplied more than 2.3 fWAR. At a level of 2.4 or higher, their specific age brackets: 34 -0- players 35 2 players 36 -0- players 37 -0- players
  4. If we could get Suarez for two years, I'd much prefer that to trading for Marte. It's just the opposite of my Mayer/Marte calculus. In this case, we lose a little on the first two years, and make it up in the next four years by virtue of not carrying 4 years of Marte's salary. And, of course, we would retain Duran's trade value. So it is the equivalent of adding Marte, or adding Suarez + someone like Lodolo.
  5. Just a couple of things that I found of interest. The first is that, if you are thinking about a rebuild after 2019, you can only base that decision on the ranking of the farm as of that date. And that was mostly ranked around #30. But even in retrospect, a rebuild was in order. Below are the bWAR totals of the players you mentioned, by year: 2020 1.3 2021 0.6 2022 2.0 2023 11.3 2024 18.9 2025 10.0 So even if we knew then, what we know now, we'd have still rebuilt.
  6. Just curious, do you get anything for the credits? Like, do you get paid for an article, or a few pennies per purchase? How does that work?
  7. I left Ref off of my analysis because I don't know if he will re-sign. But replacing Duran, Bregman, Devers, Lowe and Toro, with an identical amount of PAs by Anthony, Abreu, Mayer, Casas and Yoshida, changes the outcome of those 1,928 PA from a .793 OPS to a .771 OPS. Given that the 1,928 PAs represent 31.1% of the team PAs, that lower our team OPS by .007. If we got Marte for Duran, the increase of *team* OPS would be about ten points.
  8. Ceddanne had a higher bWAR than Marte. Marte is owed $101M/6, while Ceddanne is owed ~$43M/6. That's over twice as much, and likely for less WAR. If we want more offense, just sign Okamoto. The trade Duran for a #2 SP.
  9. 1-A first-ballot HOF manager. 2-Arguably the best GM in history. No matter what Fred and Pumpsie think.
  10. My thinking on things like this is that, if he couldn't hit a FB, all he would see would be FBs, and he'd be out of the league. I'm not sure if y'all remember, but back when the RS fans were criticizing the Beltre signing, they said he couldn't hit a curve. I was like, "10 years in the league, and no one knew he couldn't hit a curve? Until you figured it out?"
  11. We should trade Pedroia. Everyone knows that prospects are suspects.
  12. Because Rafaela has more long-term value than Marte. I wouldn't do that trade straight-up.
  13. The week is still early.
  14. They've added $100M+ in payroll since DD joined them. If JH added another $100M to what our payroll was in 2019, we'd be above the LAD.
  15. Good for the RS. If Bregman goes to 3rd, then AZ is going with Marte or Lawlar at 2nd.
  16. Aren't you working your life away?
  17. I am always confused about how RS fans see the past 7 years. Some seem to feel that JH should be run out of town, and some seem to think it was okay, and some seem think think it was a rebuild.
  18. My pure guess is that he is penciling in Casas at 1B. It's unfortunate, but a lot of fans don't think in terms of fit, or long-term, or more appealing options.
  19. Did you I was going to let this slide by? It can be painfully hard to be saving nickels and dimes when you're 25, but the accumulations take off as you age.
  20. Aww dude, you just brought tears to my eyes.
  21. I've said this many times. DD's primary superpower was knowing which prospects to keep and which to trade. That's a tough row to hoe. Many GMs don't even try. It's one of the things I like about Breslow.
  22. A little bit of an aberration. He had a 47/3 K/W in his final 27.2 IPs. That's unhittable. Ryan had a still very respectable 41/12 in 32 IPs. It's not a disqualifier, but that is way down from 2023 and 2024, and from his earlier 2025 results.
  23. One of DD's best moments. A lot of the RSN wanted DD to give JD whatever he wanted. DD read the market correctly, and knew that no one was going to top his remaining contract.
  24. She had to appreciate that. I never understood the nice/not nice thing. I've seen a fair amount of meeting meltdowns that I couldn't even process. To me, everything is a problem that I get paid to resolve. Instead of a 30-minute screed about someone on the other side that he wanted fired, just tell me what the final product has to look like. I'll figure it out.
  25. If the medicals say Casas will start sometime in April, then we have to go with Casas.
