Price has a ton of innings on that arm.
the gamble is that price could return for the playoffs with some rest vs. getting the surgery now and missing the rest of this year and next year.
Clearly price wants to contribute, but will the elbow let him?
I believe trey ball has major league stuff.
Once he gets the legs, hips, shoulders, arm, wrist and head all working in unison on a repeatable delivery, he will be a devastating major league pitcher.
I have more confidence in benintendi figuring out how to punch outside pitchers the other way than Moreland.
Three types of hitters in the majors:
Those that make it happen.
Those that watch it happen.
And those that say what happened?
I think we all know which type Moreland is!
One more thought to consider:
Bradley is represented by boras and I am not sure it makes sense to sign him to a mega deal given how streaky a hitter he is. I get bradley's defense is elite, but you can shake any tree and a half dozen great glove guys fall out. Rarely does a bat fall out.
This offseason might be the pinnacle of Bradley's worth on the trade market, if he has a decent end to this season. Would desperate dave consider moving Bradley?
Benintendi can play center. Should be easier to find a left fielder with power than a fourth outfielder with power.
The unpredictability of price's situation and not knowing if Wright will ever be the same pitcher he was last year means we need to keep two guys at Pawtucket that could start for us in Boston if they can not make it through some, most or all of next season.
We have Velasquez and Johnson, who had the worst luck of all Red Sox minor leaguers. Plus a wild card in beeks.
We should be set for next year unless there are more medical issues than we know.
Right now devers looks really good. He stays back on the ball and makes solid contact.
But at some point he is going to struggle. And if there is one thing all Red Sox youngsters have done these past three years, is when they struggle, they all lunge at pitches.
I do not know why they do it, but it yields terrible results and makes them look foolish.
Is chilli teaching them to do this?
I think we need to revisit a devers extension in three years.
I have never been a fan of Edwin's.
But I do think we need a veteran leader that can provide some power.
I think votto is that guy.
The loss of Ortiz has negatively impacted Hanley and betts. I think Ortiz's presence kept Harley's head screwed on straight and helped betts with his a confidence.
A guy like votto could help focus these two and could also be a huge asset in the clubhouse for the others.
Very frustrating waiting for betts to explode. Nunez is bound to run out of gas, so we really need him.
Not sure we see anything out of bogey this year due to the injury.
