  1. Heaven forbid Bloom could EVER draft the BEST pitching prospect available?? After all we have so many pitching prospects waiting in the wings.
  2. The minors are full of "good glove-no bat types" Chang is one of many of those. He is a stop gap till Story returns
  3. to get back on the subject I do not expect the Sox to be sellers at the deadline. they are close enough to think they have a shot at a W/C. I also don't think they will make any big additions but Bloom will pull off a few of his "special type" bargain moves.
  4. Yeah we hardly even knew ya
  5. can you enlighten me as to who Smith is please. As for your other point had Bloom NOT signed those guys RSN would have likely revolted. He is simply trying to keep the team competitive until his "plan" comes into effect.
  6. Because the Sox are GOING NOWHERE and he could go down at anytime. Just last week he had to leave a game early.
  7. I actually think this would be the best time to TRADE Paxton. His value will likely never be higher than it is now and he might actually bring back something decent. Lots of teams are looking for SP help .
  8. I just can't understand how people can say Bloom is doing a good job. we are well on our way to our 3rd last place AL East finish in his 4 years here. Other than Mayer who fell into his lap what other blue chip prospects has Bloom acquire?. How many top 100 prospects do we have in our system and besides Mayer which did Bloom acquire? Yes he has added depth to the system but it appears to me to simply be decent not great prospects. He has of course achieved his #1 mandate from John Henry which was to lower the payroll. It has gone from a top 5 payroll to now #11 in MLB. It could actually be even lower had Bloom not spent foolishly on several players.

  10. Sox are in their usual spot in the basement of the AL East 5 games back of the Blue Jays. If they don't win this series it could be a long 2nd half.
  11. the team had a very high payroll but were 1 year removed from a WS title with the roster pretty much intact. I am tired of hearing about DD having a high payroll. He was brought in to WIN and he DID. Bloom has torn this team apart and he is running a revolving door of old veterans on short term deals. Here for a good {?} time not a long time.
  12. I'd rather Bloom focus on developing young homegrown pitching like Tampa does rather than spending big on FA starters 1 pitch away from TJ.
  13. Red Sox record in the Bloom era 234-232. Pretty much sums it all up
  14. this is a PERFECT post and exactly how I feel as a Red Sox fan
  15. that is EXACTLY the mandate Bloom was given and he has achieved that marvelousy. team is around .500 and payroll has been substantially reduced. Bloom has done his job !!!
  16. It is just that the players are not that good. The Sox are weak behind the dish and throughout the IF unless you consider Raffy as a decent defensive 3B. Yoshida is terrible in LF with the glove. CF and RF are fine. Te rotation is held together by Duct tape and the BP is basically fine. That all adds up to a 40-41 record at the mid point.
  17. Duran will not get any DECENT pitching back-certainly not a good SP. Possibly a reliever but we dont really need help there as much as other places.
  18. Not to mention he broke up a WS team in Florida too
  19. The new owner can do that after he takes over. Henry is likely THRILLED with the job Bloom is doing.
  20. i hate to disappoint you but Duran is NOT bringing back a decent pitching option in a trade. Bloom needs to blow this thing up at the deadline and get back whatever LITTLE he can for Kluber, Janssen, Pivetta, Paxton, Duvall, and Dalbec. I know none of them are worth much but the 2023 Sox are GOING NOWHERE !!!
  21. that has been my argument all along. Bloom's hands are tied by Henry who needs to SELL the team.
  22. have no fear---Bloom will fill those spots with his BBB hunting
  23. those of us tht were realistic expected that we would be getting a guy who would cut the payroll and try to build the farm system. Well we got the former but not so sure about the latter.
