  1. on that we agree
  2. Brez has added more mediocre pitchers to the depth chart but nothing else
  3. not a chance the Mariners go for this trade
  4. the Twins suck even more than the Red Sox do
  5. we should sweep the Twins as they stink right now
  6. Abreu is hitting .262 and his avg is going down. he is a hard nosed Trot Nixon type who i do like but i am not sure how valuable a trade chip he is.
  7. or trying to poke the bear with anyone who is critical. After all Red Sox fans have no reason to be critical right??
  8. i highly criticized the Yorke selection but I never called it the worst trade in MLB history so don't put words in my mouth please. Of course you would be happy had we gotten Priestner with that pick right? My point here is not about Yorke but more about the ineptness of our FO and the closed wallet policy of our owner.
  9. Hendriks is already under contract for next year and will be quite a bit cheaper than Kenley. Goodbye Kenley
  10. preistner who we got in the Yorke trade has a 5.67 era in AAA while Yorke was called up by the Pirates today. just saying....
  11. hell yeah--why should we lament the Sale trade? after all it is not like we lost the trade
  12. well today finally sealed the W/C hopes for the Sox given that the Twins finally won a game.
  13. everyone knows i don't like Tyler O'neill but i have to credit him as he has had a great year
  14. And just to help us cry in our beer here are Sale's stats as of today--- 17-3 2.25 era with a 1.002 whip and 219 K's in 179 innings. Nice trade Craig. Enjoy paying that 17 mil Mr Henry
  15. trust Old Red to tell it LIKE IT IS !!
  16. there is no doubt that Story was signed to replace XB. I am guessing that XB had told the FO what he was looking for and that it was higher than what Story. Feel free to believe otherwise.
  17. forget about the argument as to what type of SP Abreu could fetch. Yeah maybe he could fetch a guy around the calibre of Pivetta but do you really consider Pivetta a #3 type SP cause I don't. This team needs a true ace like when we traded for Pedro or Beckett. We could also try and get an established ace SP who is a bit older like Schilling. Abreu is NOT going to be the centrepiece for a trade like that. This is the type of move the Sox need to make to get out of this .500 plateau they have been at for several years now. The problem is teams don't seem to be trading young aces as much as they once did. The SP you have brought up -we have brought in several of those guys the past several years and very few have worked out. PS-- i could actually see Bello becoming our best SP.
  18. The Twins have been HORRIBLE the past 2-3 weeks and are trying hard to give the W/C away. I could easily see the Sox sweeping them.
  19. Castillo is certainly the SP the Mariners are most likely to deal
  20. castillo is a good P but he is not really in our window age wise
  21. 2 things wrong with that : 1] ZERO chance Henry signs off on a deal that costs him 30 million and 2} the Sox thought they got THEIR 2B........
  22. oh yeah i am sure the Mariners would be all over that trade
  23. and Hendriks has brought a lot of value hasn't he?
  24. OK let me be a bit clearer for you. I don't think Abreu could bring ON HIS OWN amore than a back end SP. Perhaps he could be packaged with one of our top 4 prospects for a QUALITY young cost controlled SP. Abreu IMO is a nice player but OF are FAR easier to acquire than quality SP.
