  1. MLB has the Phils farm system ranked 16th -not great but better than it had been the previous two years by quite a bit and better than the Skankees, Royals and the Padres. i think DD will be just fine.
  2. looks like 3 of the 4 teams in NL & AL Championhips are in the Top 5 in spending. hey Max, looks like your payroll fallacy is a fallacy.
  3. i know this and totally agree with you. i just pointed out that Harmony said our need for pitching was overblown and i think he's 100% wrong. i was being facetious in one of my posts. maybe i should have made it green.
  4. i bet Marlins, A's, Rays and Pirates fans say the same thing. and because they are, John Henry's solution is to spend even less. brilliant. LOL.
  5. he said our need for pitching was "overblown". i disagree. you don't. it's ok.
  6. this is not true. Harmony already said that our need for pitchers is overblown.
  7. this settles it then. the Mariners don't need to sign any bats the season nor do the Sox need to sign any arms this offseason. why would teams that consistently miss the playoffs want to improve. that's crazy talk.
  8. and he doesn't try to be "the smartest guy in the room" by trying to win on the cheap.
  9. how much longer can Henry s*** on the fanbase you before you change your views on him?
  10. yet they opened the vault for Yoshida. this makes me think of the Seinfeld episode where George decides that since every big decision he's made in his life has been wrong then it's time to do the opposite. that's where i'm at with the Red Sox FO. Jerry Seinfeld: "If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right."
  11. KC is actually the closet park to me. and without a MLB franchise in the state, the Royals and STL are both quite popular. if KC wins, that would be crazy.
  12. i know he did all that. and Frazee had a championship team as well, but nobody remembers that. my comment was how he will be remembered. his legacy, like Frazee, will be that of an egotistical cheapskate who dealt a popular player to save money. f*** Henry.
  13. agreed. i'm ok with San DIego. i've got family and been to games there. only reason i'm wanting Philly is because of DD.
  14. same here. i'm hoping for a KC-PHI WS, but really don't care as long as a team other than the Dodgers, Mets or Yankees win it all.
  15. he's the 21st century version of Harry Frazee, who was literally known for two things: owning the Red Sox and selling Babe Ruth. i suspect Henry's legacy will be very, very similar.
  16. Henry has more money than his great-great-great grandkids would ever need, yet he acts like the Red Sox are broke. there is no f***ing way this team is losing money. so, why in hell would you want to own a team if you don't care about spending money to win? ego? so he could have even more money? clearly, the Dodgers, Mets, Padres, Yankees don't give a f*** about making money. they want to win. Henry....not so much.
  17. el Tiante was easily my favorite pitcher as a kid.
  18. Mets, Dodgers, Dbacks and Sox all appeared to be interested in him, but i think we all know he'll end up in LA.
  19. yeah....that's ********. the fact is: the Sox don't want to compete, because JH is a greedy, egotistical, POS.
  20. if this is the case, then i would look at not only replacing Masa, but also replacing those scouts.
  21. Bloom is the first guy they need to call. He loved him so much, maybe he wants him back.
