  1. the Mariners think Castillo is on par with Pedro Martinez, Greg Maddux and Nolan Ryan so no way they'd do that deal. they need to trade him for whatever they can get, even if it is a low-level minor leaguer so they can use that money to sign Alonso. with the pitching depth they have, they can afford to part with him to upgrade at 1B.
  2. Conner is going to get tired playing every day.
  3. you got 6 years on me. way too young for Rickey. pneumonia is some bad s***.
  4. Rickey Henderson dead at 65.
  5. totally agree. and i think this would energize the fan base, i know it would me. this year after year of "The Sham" is wearing on everyone. i'm not a Mets, Yankees or Dodgers fan, but i would think that their fans have to be excited for what their teams have done.
  6. me and you both. if Henry spent like the Dodgers or Mets i probably wouldn't care, but he's so tight, it's truly a waste of money we should be spending elsewhere.
  7. i said "nearly" the same money. especially when you consider that in reality, they are paying Sandoval $18.5 for one year (next season) as he'll be just like Paxton and not do anything the first year but draw a check.
  8. i like it. why pay someone healthy like Burnes (or Fried) when you can pay two injured guys nearly the same money to sit on the bench?
  9. the only possible pitcher i see them adding is Buehler. he perfectly fits the type of pitcher Henry now seeks -rehab projects on short-term deals as opposed to long-term deals with healthy pitchers.
  10. "perfect fit". LOLOLOLOL. perfect fit for the triage unit, also known as the Red Sox bullpen. Henry is essentially paying $18.5 million for this guy to pitch next year. f***ing stupid beyond words.
  11. essentially $18.5 million for next season. no way he's any kind of use this year. insane. this fits Henry's MO of signing broken down rehab projects for short-term deals. iow, throwing s*** at the wall and hoping something sticks. with this in mind, there is no way in hell he signs Burnes or any other decent healthy pitcher to a long-term deal.
  12. Casas for Castillo is insane. why give them anything, when Castillo is nothing more than a salary dump for them?
  13. yeah, one off year after three straight AL east titles. "BURN IT DOWN!"
  14. it has been obvious for years that John the Con has been averse to spending money to improve the team. payroll just keeps going down and down, yet he's spending just enough -and staying "interested"- to continue this ******** sham.
  15. it makes so much sense, it will never happen.
  16. 5. destroyed the farm. if Dave can get blamed for "decimating the farm" with a few trades that turned out great for the Sox, why not Brez-slow?
  17. Bellinger to the Yankees.
  18. as of right now, their payroll is less than last year and John The Con is being outspent by the A's this offseason. it's all a big f***ing joke.
  19. after seeing all this, i'm surprised Greedy John hasn't signed him. he fits the FA pitcher profile perfectly of who they want.
  20. fact check: true
  21. Have the A's spent more money this offseason than the Red Sox or is that my imagination?
  22. Phantom Bidding. they bid knowing they would ultimately be outbid.
  23. "...Breslow is not." translation: Henry does not want to spend the money it would take to sign him.
  24. it worked out for ATL last year.
