    maybe i'm not understanding his contract, but the way i see it, SD is only paying him $7.5M this year with TEAM options for the next two years at $16.5/year. Wacha has a player option for $6M for next year. looks like SD got the best of this deal.

    well....i got crucified for suggesting that we trade Mayer. i'll say it again, i'd trade him in a second for proven #1 SP. and, after all, isn't the plan to draft dozens of shortstops and then trade them for proven SP?? ya' know, since we don't want to draft/ develop pitchers because they're such an unknown.

    always the optimist. i see us trending towards a third last place finish in four years. Ben did that and got canned, even though his one winning season was a WS championship. i can't wait to see Bloom in the unemployment line.

    Mayer struggled big-time in AA and now he's hurt. i'd trade him in a second in a package for a quality SP.

    Mookie's bwar since the trade: 21.9, Verdugo's is 9.1 and Wong's is 2.4. i have nothing against Alex and Connor but 11.5 is still quite a bit less than 21.9. and i don't give a f*** what anybody says, forced or not, that's the worst gotdamn trade in Red Sox history. and nothing short of a career-ending injury by Mookie will change that.

    and the s***** defense makes it harder for a shaky pitching staff to go deeper into games. but some people say defense doesn't matter.
