  1. i sort of have a different take on Cora's cheating. when it comes to winning, i subscribe to the old theory that "if you're not cheating, then you're not trying". i want the Sox to use every advantage they can to win balls games. if it's cheating, that's fine. just don't get caught. LOL. with that said, i've been unhappy with Cora many times over the years. besides "resting" players two weeks into the season, one thing that particularly irks me is his unwillingness to challenge calls. i've seen numerous plays that would have been overturned that he never even bothered with. WTF? C'mon man, you have to use every tool available to win games and it's like he doesn't care. he consistently ranks near the bottom of all managers in challenges. He has just 18 this year. Kevin Cash leads with 54. i know there is a lot of Cora support on here and though i'm fine if he stays, i wouldn't be upset even a little if he was canned.
  2. i think they did. it all sounds very very familiar.
  3. yeah, change 'em back to the regular unis. i hate those damn things.
  4. overall OPS is 7th, as is slugging. OBP is 10th. definitely could use some more pop. the Braves top 5 players combined have 20 more home runs than the entire Red Sox team. overall, i say a bit above mediocre but still good enough to make the playoffs if the pitching and defense weren't so freakin' awful.
  5. the Sox are top 7 or better in most every offensive category except home runs (17th), triples (21st) and walks (23rd). interestingly, they are 3rd in hits, yet they drop to 7th in total bases. lots of singles and doubles leading to lots of runs. and lots of runners LOB. it would be nice to see more walks and a bit more power next season. with that said, the offense was good enough to get us into the postseason this year, it was the pitching that did us in.
  6. good gawd, really? they give input that leads to decisions.
  7. i agree. Martin has been money all season long. wish we had 6 more just like him.
  8. LOL, no. if this is the best his analytics dept can do, then well....maybe they need to be fired too.
  9. ok, i worded it poorly, but yes, i meant the team was awful, not the draft picks. my bad. we did get some nice draft picks. i'm really excited about Teel.
  10. you're right. if he was hired to tank the franchise to improve their draft picks then sure, he should be graded higher.
  11. i didn't say the draft picks were awful, Moon. i said giving him a high grade for FINISHING LAST and getting high draft picks was wrong.
  12. what is truly funny is thinking CB gets a B or B-. AYFKM? i think you are usually very fair-minded but ...c'mon man.
  13. they have been laughably bad, in large part due to CB.
  14. count it or dont. MLB counts it. had they not finished EXACTLY where i thought they'd finish this year, i might be inclined to give him a better grade. and i don't think he should get a higher grade due to better draft picks because they were so freakin' awful.
  15. Three times in four years gets a solid F from me.
  16. that would be nice. i know several on here love him, but i've had about all the Cora i can stand.
  17. four years. even better.
  18. i don't believe the "cancer" rumors at all. Dugo is an emotional guy. i like that. and i don't have a problem extending Dugo, if the price was right. yes, LF is the best place for Duran.
  19. i had no idea they were so close in age. i like Dugo and have absolutely nothing against him, including whatever real or perceived "clubhouse cancer" rumor that is going around. but the fact is, he just doesn't do anything for me. his numbers are steady yet, to me, IDK...unimpressive. as you know, he's eligible after next year, Duran two years after that. Duran's fWAR is slightly higher than Dugo's (2.3 to 2.2)in less games and his OPS+ is higher (120-103). i just see more potential with Duran. maybe i'm wrong. i'm just saying, i'd keep Jarren over Alex. with that said, i wouldn't get pissed if they traded Duran for quality SP. i never said "the Sox need to act like a large market team".
  20. i think Dugo has peaked. he is what he is with no more upside. otoh, i think we have yet to see Duran's potential. with that in mind, i'd trade Dugo.
  21. that wouldn't hurt my feelings. a lot of money for a singles-hitting DH.
  22. you get my vote.
