  1. that was 37+ years ago, but yeah, she knew i was a huge Sox fan. we were living in Birmingham, AL at the time and went to Atlanta to watch Braves/Cardinals on our honeymoon. :-)
  2. i told my wife before each of them batted that Story was gonna whiff and Masa was going to ground out to 2nd. they are just too predictable.
  3. the Yankees have a guy in AAA named Duke Ellis that they used last year for that very thing. and i tell ya'....that boy can flat out fly.
  4. not surprised. i know we've all seen dozens, maybe hundreds, of "top prospects" fade into oblivion over the decades. that's why i'm always hesitant to trade a proven, established player for "top propects".
  5. i'm sorry, but no way in hell should he be ranked 29. maybe the 29th best catcher. maybe.
  6. the fact that he's their #2 prospect says more about the condition of the Padres farm system than it does about him.
  7. the problem is, he wins at the same rate that he loses.
  8. totally agree. maybe an alternate title would be: Trying to Understand Brandon's Obsession with a Mediocre Two Month Rental and Catcher Struggling to Hit His Weight in AA.
  9. who cares? i'd rather have Quinn Priester.
  10. another fun fact: Kurtz had more total bases last night than Wong has had all season.
  11. he's not coming back this year. another idiotic rehab signing by the Sox. between him, Paxton, Hendricks, etal, they could have spent money on an actual healthy pitcher. this is just insanity. and they're getting exactly what they deserve.
  12. i would. the Yanks are now on the hook for $16M for the next two years....and he's not that good. .717 OPS this year and leads the majors in strike outs. LOL...the Yanks can have him.
  13. that's what i'm saying -great play when it works. and since the ghost runner rule began, i've seen it many times, though mostly just in AA and AAA games.
