Great analysis, I feel he is Mookie Betts 2.0.
My impression is that he is a nice kid and is all business about baseball. His ability to hit the ball to right is gold.
Question for you: If Abreu learns to hit left handed pitching? Should he be extended? He can catch the ball, throw, has power, and can run too,
Most of the loses by the Red Sox are related to an awful bullpen or poor defense. I was on the radio last nite when the game was Sox 4, Yanks nothing and yet knew we could easily lose. As soon as two men got on base with walks the radio announcer was gloomy and kew what was coming. He even predicted Boozer was going to fail. All of us knew the situation was hopeless.
Most games are lost by our relievers despite the average quality of the our starters.
OK, got it.
The The Sox have many infielders that can be traded. I would keep Abreu as he is in the outfield and may blossom into a real good one. But, I still think the team has money to sign two free agent solid starters next year.
If everybody needs pitching why would any team out there part withy top of the line pitchers? Unless they are the Sox who traded this expected Cy Young winner this season.
I rather spend money in a couple of no.2 starters and reinforce the bullpen.
My honest take
Foul language is OK if a situation demands it.
Gratuitous foul language like using the F word in every other sentence sometimes is unsavory (not always).
Watching the games is not much fun these days. We have poor relievers. I can live with average starters, but poor relievers will lose a ton of games. It was obvious last year too.
How come we do not have over 100 MPH arms in the bullpen? All other teams have them.
I will say it again.
The Red Sox need a top of the line bullpen. They can still win with average No.3 starters because they have plenty of hitting.
I do not see the hitting going away anytime soon.
Every time the bullpen does a decent job we win.
We need stellar defense in SS and 2b. Raphie and Casas have to be tolerated in 1b and 3b.
Outside the Red Sox I only like the traditional teams such as the Cardinals, Dodgers, Braves, Giants, Phillies, ect. I used to love the As during the Rollie Fingers era.
The only exception is the Yankees, they are highly unlikeable.
I lived in Massachusetts during the Yaz era and fell in love with the team
I have been in Maryland for years and never bonded with the Orioles.
I live outside DC and tried to like the Nationals but that did not work.
With MLB streaming is quite easy to be a fan from a distance.
My daughter lives in Massachusetts and we always try to go to a game at Fenway when we visit.
I was at Orioles Park last weekend and the number of Red Sox fans in the stands was down compared to other years.
IN 2018 when the Orioles were in the toilet sometimes Red Sox fans would outnumber the locals.
Years ago when Verlander was with the Tigers I went to a ball game at Fenway.
Verlander was shagging baseballs in centerfield.
I called his name and waved. He looked up and threw a souvenir ball in our direction.
I like him as a competitor, but I hope the Sox destroy him this afternoon.
