  1. At the onset of the season the Red Sox lost many games due to poor defense. Now they are losing due to a poor bullpen. The starting pitching got worse, but we continue to lose when the starting pitchers have a good outing. Hitting is not a problem. This team simply needs a front office that spends money on a quality bullpen. That is less costly than looking for starters. The defense has gotten much better and will continue to improve as Story comes back. There will be a surplus of hitters coming up from triple A in the next couple of years. Is it possible to know how many games were lost due to errors and how many lost in the last two innings due to a poor bullpen? BTW, last night Cora should have taken Sims out after facing the minimum three batters.
  2. I was at the game yesterday. Casas threw a souvenir ball at us after the 3rd out.
  3. I will try to get an autograph from Casas during BP. The Red Sox DFA Dom Smith, per @ByRobertMurray.
  4. I will be at the game tonight! Oriole park is nice. Oriole fans tend to be quite friendly.
  5. Once the score was 9 to 5 I would not have used Jansen. But, that is me watching the game on TV.
  6. A question for the forum regarding the awful loss to Texas last night: Jansen pitched in August 12, 13 and hence was not available last night when the Sox gave the game away. Why was Jensen used the day before to preserve a 9 to 5 victory? We needed Jansen last night.
  7. I read on X (Twitter) that the Duran jersey is selling like crazy. Is that a rumor?
  8. The old Red Sox team is back.
  9. Houck 101 pitches still there
  10. It seems the NESN announcer is confused.
  11. Did Yoshida crossed the plate ahead of the DP?
  12. I have to agree. As Duran said the slur he was probably reacting without thinking. It does not mean he is a bad person or a homophobe. BTW, LBJ was the most pro black president since Lincoln, nevertheless in private he used the N word regularly. The old days were different. JFK had concubines and the press looked the other way. Had a ball player said the F word in the 1960s it would have been 100% ignored by the media. Duran made a mistake and he will pay. End of story. At least he can continue to be a ballplayer.
  13. OK, great answer! I suspected the batters don't try very hard, but I have seen some that do.
  14. Why is it so hard to understand that some ball players are young and use locker room language. They are not choir boys or kids that have been raised in a highly PC culture. Duran made a mistake and now he will forever be blackballed and never get to do a commercial (like Papi does). This is the lack of experience of a young man that is very passionate about the game of baseball. I guess he could have said shut up "moron" instead of the F word, but that is the way it goes. Wait, the "moron" insult would have been insulting to all the morons of the world. Better say nothing. He will learn to ignore the hecklers.
  15. Is the F word the new N word? I read an article that the slur is an insult. But that the insult also involves an entire class of people. In that context he has to pay the penalty Has anyone heard the song “Money for Nothing”?
  16. Serious question: Why not used Smith as a reliever on a regular basis? Why only use Smith when the game is out of reach? The times I saw him pitch the batters were really trying to hit.
  17. It has gotten really bad. To the point that I can predict the homers by the opposition with great certainty. As someone said above the homers come from obvious hitters such as Yordan Alvarez. One would think a savy pitcher would know this and give the obvious home run hitters nothing to hit as long as there is room in the bases. Cora should also immediately take out any reliever that is allowing solid hard contact more than three times.
  18. Society is regressing to a Victorian puritanical stage. Who cares!
  19. Welcome to hell This may be the season
  20. I like Red Seat on You Tube.
  21. Crawford tried to pitch to Witt? Is he nuts?
  22. I think the players like to play for Cora and that is huge. According to Dustin Pedroia Cora was a massive help when he first came up as a rookie. At the time Cora was still an active player.
  23. What happens to Do Smith after Casas comes back? Smith is playing quite well and is probably a better defender than Casas. I suspect that Casas will struggle if he comes back too soon as he has been inactive for a long time. Should Casas take a long rehab in Worcester before coming back? What are the options for Smith?
  24. Al Kaline made his major league debut at age 18. Soto at age 19.
  25. I have to admit the sarcasm is quite funny!
