    A lot less pressure in Detroit, so we’ll see how it goes for him.

    We don’t know if the Red Sox offered E Rod a contract, or not, and if they did what was the offer, but I don’t see them signing anyone else for more money than what E Rod got from Detroit. I’ve been saying right along that I don’t see the Red Sox signing any big long term contracts this off season, and I still believe that. I seen all kinds of let’s get this guy, and that guy on here, but unless it’s for a short term, and not much money I don’t see it. I also hope I’m wrong about that, but we will see.

    I think Stroman is overrated, and has been a 500 pitcher in his career, and who knows if he can handle pitching in Boston, or not like E Rod could.

    All I’ve heard is 77M total with 28M the first 2 years, and the opt out.

    It’s just an opinion that he wanted to leave, and if Detroit can offer more money than Boston could then it doesn’t look like much money will be spent again this off season. The contract he got from Detroit with an opt out after 2/28 million was not a bad contract. Like I said time will tell if this was a good move for the Sox.

    I think E Rod wanted to leave Boston, and if not I think this is a bad move. I know he butted heads with Cora a few times last year. E Rod proved one important thing, and that was he could pitch in Boston, and that is a big thing that no one mentions. We’ll see how he is replaced, and if this turns out as a good move for the Sox, but as of now I don’t think it is.

    I’ve said many times that I believe no one is worth a 30 million a year, or 300 million over a period of time contract. The Yankees have 2 300 million dollar contracts on their team, and the Padres do also. How has Trouts 400 million dollar contract worked out for them? Mookie was hurt this year, and has 11 more years to go into his late 30s. Those kind of contracts are not worth it, and that goes for Bogey, and Raffy.

    I don’t think Duggy is equal value to Betts, but Betts wasn’t worth that big, or that long a contract either.

    I agree with that, but without at least making an offer before they do is not doing your do diligence to see if a deal can get done. When is the last time the Sox won any bidding war with one of their own after they hit the FA market?

    Bogey will get an extension offer, but I’m not so sure he will be dealt if he declines. Letting Bogey reach FA is stupid, and I always say if you really want someone than you lock them up before they get there like they should have done with E Rod if they really want to keep him, and the same with Raffy. Getting into a bidding war with other teams is more costly, and usually the Sox end up on the losing end.

    Yes it does depend on how many years of equal value. 1 for 1 would not be worth it, but 2, or 3 would. Verdugo is a nice player, but he is no Betts, and unless Downs, or Wong turn out to be good players it was not a good trade, and the fact that the Sox didn’t get any pitching in the deal made it even worse.

    If you got equal value you could have them for more years, and you never know how a draft pick will turn out. Some do, and some don’t like Trey Ball.

    I think the Sox will just ride it out with Bogey, and deal with it after 2022. Without knowing what you could get for him in a trade you don’t know if the team would be worse next year, or not, but I doubt you would get equal value.

    I agree on everything. I would like to keep both, but close to 60 million/yr, and who knows how much total would be is just to expensive, and if only 1 is kept, and that’s not a certainty either it has to be Raffy.

    The Bogey, and Raffy decisions made the next few years are going to be tough decisions to make, but will shape the future of the Red Sox for years to come no matter which way they go.

    I think Bogey would if the Sox matched what another team offered, where Mookie wouldn’t.

    Which was a smart financial move by them. Mookie was a good player, but not worth that kind of money.

    Also Mookie was not going to sign in Boston anyways.

    I prefer he gets extended too, but not for no long term $30 million contract, and there will be some of those thrown at some of the SS this off season, which I wouldn’t do for any of them.

    No surprise no matter what Bogey does, and I didn’t stay he was staying, but I still don’t think he gets traded.

    I don’t think Bogey will get traded at all. Unlike Mookie he likes Boston, and I just don’t see JH saying to trade him even though I think it’s the best thing to do without the contract getting worked out.

    I think you’re pretty much going to see the same lineup that finished the playoffs with no big trades, and no big FA signed, and pretty much all the money will go towards the pitching staff.
