  1. And Vaz was brought there for that reason.
  2. This looks pretty good, but looking at things now it would have been a better move to resign Schwarber. I thought JD would be good enough for 1 more year, but he wasn’t.
  3. I’d take Vaz for another year, but not for the contract that I got from the Twins, but that’s just me, and I don’t do fangraphs.
  4. It is not a high bar, but I just think it would be good if the Red Sox had a real #1 C, and not 2 backups.
  5. You left out losing record, so add that to last place with a $200M+ payroll was nothing to write home about. Do you want to tout 78 wins too like others have, and give them a participation trophy?
  6. They should have been better, but injuries, down years by some, and bad GM decisions took care of that.
  7. Ok on Vaz, and I should have said you didn’t think he was good enough on D. I stand corrected.
  8. And what’s wrong with that?
  9. The point being Plawecki was just a backup to a #1 C. I know you didn’t think Vaz was good enough, and that’s fine, but now the Red Sox have no #1 C just a couple of backups.
  10. The point being they were wrong.
  11. They acquired Jeter in that same trade after all too. Graterol hasn’t been all that great either.
  12. An awfully lot of things would have to go right for this not to be a mediocre team. I don’t think Wong is as highly thought of as he is on here.
  13. I did say to start the season, but I forgot Story was added late, but at any rate starting a lineup of Bogey, Raffy, JD, Story, Vaz, Kike, and Dugy based on past history was better going into the season last year than what they got now even with JBJ, Bobby D, and Arroyo. Turner is 38, and Yoshida is unproven, and Duvall is coming off a bad season injury, and all.
  14. I’m only talking strictly of where we are right now compared to where we were at this time last year, and we still hadn’t acquired Story yet.
  15. On paper I believe last year’s lineup was better to start the season. The BP looks to be improved, and the starting rotation has just as many questions as last years. How it works out is another story, and TBD.
  16. I know it goes beyond just the failures of Duran, and Downs. I’ve watched it, and I’ve read the to many to count times you’ve mentioned it on here, but I was just talking about the recent failures in the here, and now. I’m not impressed with Wong, and he might not even get much playing time except In Worcester, or an injury fill in. As for the rest you mentioned meh.
  17. Outside of Bello, and Casas for this year I’m not very optimistic, and if lots of others come up this year, and given a chance it’s probably a bad sign, and a season like last season is underway again. I get prospects are needed, and the Sox wouldn’t have been as bad off now if Duran, and Jeter had worked out.
  18. But will they be better??? That’s all that counts. Lots of hopes, and wishes for all these prospects you’ve been touting.
  19. I’d say this sums things up pretty dam well.
  20. Half way decent remains to be seen, but what they are building is one of the oldest teams in the league, and might get there with a old SS, or two.
  21. When all is said, and done in this offseason how many other big market clubs with a payroll as big as the Red Sox will have as many question marks entering the season? Good Golly Miss Molly.
  22. Another LHH OF. I guess all, but assures Kiki to the IF, or Dugy gets traded.
  23. Shocked? Bloom must of admired Duran from his perch high above the friendly confines, and enjoyed the circus like atmosphere. I couldn’t possibly think of any other reason. Or could I?
  24. I think it made sense at the time, because Bloom was in no hurry to go out, and get someone, but the more he played the more he was exposed especially in the OF.
  25. When I said last year, and this year that Duran was not in the Red Sox plans I meant as a starter, and any kind of platoon, so yes I should have been more specific.
