Umm, pivetta does suck and the numbers back it up. sale has certainly shown an inability to stay on the field and $110M doesn't go that far when there are many other holes to fill as well.

Because at this stage, if eovaldi is traded at the deadline or leaves via free agency, they have 1 starter (whitlock) who has less than 100 career innings pitched, 1 who completely sucks (pivetta) and 2 very injury prone guys on the downside of their careers (sale & paxton)

If so, then so is posting that they are 5.5 games out of a playoff spot. How about this then, the red sox are one of six teams currently on pace to lose 100 games or more.

With both teams winning tonight with the sox idle, the Yanks and the orioles managed to put more distance between themselves and the sox.

Mostly because I don't expect him to hit on every signing. And again, I have very little faith in sale or paxton being able to stay healthy, so I think the pitching staff has bigger holes to fill.

Understood, I just think this sell off losing xbo and jd will be a bit more painful and combined with sale and paxton unable to stay healthy, it will require a more lengthy rebuild.

I think that's a pretty accurate assumption.

I selected zero because I think he will be too expensive for a pitcher who will be 33yrs old by Opening Day next year for a rebuilding team.

That really depends IMO. If the sox continue on their current path and become sellers at the deadline and go into a rebuild, I don't really think they need to offer him anything as he would be 33 by the time next season starts.
