  1. According to the latest news the Red Sox main focus is now on SS Trevor Story since losing out on Freddie Freeman.
  2. Remy and Orsillo were the best baseball broadcaster duo on the air. IMO Nesn made a big goof by releasing Orsillo them two made listening to baseball interesting and funny even when the Red Sox were losing. How can anybody forget the Remdog's classic doing his famous air guitar riff on the table. RIP Remdog
  3. Noway they changed this game enough already if you really look at it. It goes both ways sometimes the call is against you and sometimes the call in your favor. Personally I like an ump who is consistent if has a wide or high strike zone hopefully it's the same for the whole game for both teams.
  4. That's the thing for Tampa it's a regular on going situation as soon as the have to pay someone they trade them for a few good prospects and develop them into great players then it turn back into a deja vu scenario again it's nothing new for this franchise. In between the arbitration period they usually can come up with a very good competitive team that surprises everyone.
  5. Chris Sale really he could hit the showers as soon as he did in his last outing. This Tampa Bay team seem to relax and confident right now and it shows in their play. Come on a straight steal of home in a post season game nobody does that kind of s*** unless you're extremely confident.
  6. We know you've already got that one wrong. The reality is that the Rays could easily flip your prediction watching last night game the Rays have solid good pitching with a strong BP and good defense and some pop all the right combination to go far in the playoffs they didn't fluke out their divisional title this season the won it fair and square. We keep overlooking what they accomplish with a low budget and young talent with no superstar. They got another good young fireballer going today in Shane Baz could be another tough day for the Red Sox hitter today. They very well could be in WS as the AL Champions.
  7. Realistically each team has a chance to be in WC games there's different scenarios possible but if you have a Red Sox and Yankees loss and Blue jays and Mariners win then you have a 4 way tie for the WC then it would force a 2 game playoff for the advancing teams. The has to be closes race ever with 4 teams for a playoff spot sure make exciting baseball. Overall I see the Rays as being the team that will win the divisional cheampionship they have the pitching the defense and offense on a low budget team.
  8. This idiots traded Babe Ruth once and were they were the laughing stock of pro basball yet they traded Mookie Betts another baseball great now they're going to be known as the Al East laughing stockfor years to come.
  9. New Brunswick native Rheal Cormier dies at 53 after a battle with cancer. Cormier spend 16 years in the MLB with 5 teams Cardinals, Red Sox, Expos, Philles and the Reds. Born in St- Andre-LeBlanc small village near Shediac he played his minor and senior baseball in Moncton he was drafted in 6th round by the St-Louis Cardinals. Rheal best year was in 2003 with Philadelphia he was 8-0 as a reliever with a 1.70 ERA according to the Phillies that was the 2nd lowest among relievers and the 6th lowest by any club reliever in the modern era since 1900. Cormier made 84 appearances the most by a lefty Philadelphia pitcher. During his Philly tenure he appeared in 363 games as a reliever, it's the second most in club history behind Tim McGraw. Cormier represented Canada on the world stage at the 1987 Pan-American games, 1988 and 2006 Olympics and the World Baseball Classic. Rheal Cormier was inducted in the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012. Canada lost a great baseball ambassador RIP my friend.
  10. Nah just suspended till they find enough players somewhere to field a team. What a joke force to play with sub-par players off waivers etc. maybe they should try the MLB pension club to see if some oldtimer would interested in playing a few games.
  11. Florida Marlin season suspended mid covid -19 one team down how many will have to go down before the MLB call it quits. David Price criticized the MLB for not taking players health seriously in consideration and putting them at risk by allow travel and not isolating. He said the measures put in place by the MLB wasn't enough to ensure everyone safe health so that's why he chose to sit out the season. I have to say right now it look like Price is right this is going to get ugly real quick.
  12. Don't get too excited yet the pitcher aren't up to par yet as soon as they do it things will be back normal again and everyone will be on his case again for swatting at dead air.
  13. The season is only 3 days old and already at risk of shut down because of covid 19 as MLB had to cancelled 2 games today because of the virus. It's just a matter of time before we have multiple teams with outbreaks.
  14. I don't think the MLB is better position than any other sport there still no social distancing everyone together in the clubhouse, team bus, airplane and dugouts. Heck I've been watching the game they're not wearing mask the sitting and talking within close proximity. Plus they're travelling across a country that's the world covid 19 hotspot with 40 of 50 state surging in new cases. The commissioner is as crazy as your dumb f@#k President he's too stupid to realize that you need to have strict measures to c this virus under control. I can see a bunch of players getting infected that is going to force this season cancelled before it's played out.
  15. The way the MLB is going about playing the season is very irresponsible. Yesterday 4 Florida Marlins tested positive for covid 19 pitcher Jose Urena catcher Jorge Alfaro first baseman Garrett Cooper and outfielder Harold Ramirez. The Marlins manager Don Mattingly said that we are taking risks everyday by playing baseball. There's too many unknown from this virus as it can attack each individual differently some recovers fully while some has secondary effects such as Rodriguez which attack the heart some have irreversible lung damage. The NHL has done it right it gathered all the teams into 2 cities upon arrival they go to the designated hotel they quarantine for 14 days nobody leaves the bubble all the food is brought in the only travel is to the arena on the team bus and back to the hotel nobody leaves the bubble for any reason they are stuck there for 2 months until the season over, Unlike the MLB which allows team to travel within the epicentre corona virus the US and to the hotspots of the virus. The Canadian government was smart by not allowing the Blue Jays to play in Canada they put their citizen ahead of sports and that's why Canada has flatten the curve and their numbers are steadily going down. The US has 10 times the population of Canada the US recorded 38 times more covid 19 cases and 17 times more death than Canada while both countries are neighbouring each other they're going in entirely in different direction Canada has flatten the curve and slowly showing sign of total recovery while The US is surging and breaking new record high in infections daily.
  16. To me it only confirm one thing the Red Sox were truly hoping to bring him back as a Free Agent. Hindsight is 20/20 now maybe they shouldn't of traded him it's not very often you have a chance at an elite player that can do it all and good as Mookie could. I mean he came up as infielder moved him to the outfield because JBJ fiasco fast tracked him into the major where he excelled right away.
  17. Everything you want to buy has a market value whether it be a house, car or anything for that matter it's dictated by the market. The same is to be said for baseball players you've got the Elite, the Good and the Mediocre as the different level of talent. We've seen the contract signed by Manny Machado and Bryce Harper which are a level lower than Mookie. Machado contract 10/300 mil with a 20 mil signing bonus total value 320 with opt out clause in 2023 and 6 team no trade clause. Harper contract 13/330 mil with a 20 mil signing bonus total value 350 mil no deferred money with full no trade clause. There's no way Mookie was unreasonable he just wanted the money he deserve the market clearly showed that for his level of player the Red Sox offer was a bit slim side.
  18. Over the years the Red Sox made 3 offers to extend Betts the first was in 2016 - 5/100 mil, 2017 - 8/200 mil, 2018 - 10/300 mil Mookie's counter offer was 12/420 mil the last the Red Sox up their offer to 310 mil there was a 110 mil dollar spread anybody involved in negotiating knows right off it's to large of difference to come to terms with they need to close in the gap in order to get a deal done. The huge X factor that nobody could've ever predicted which likely played into the negotiations was the Covid-19 pandemic.
  19. Well it was on the headlines of the Boston Globe and CBS sports plus Mass Live. http://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/07/23/sports/red-sox-president-sam-kennedy-disappointed-mookie-betts-signed-contract-extension-with-dodgers/ http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/red-sox-president-sam-kennedy-says-hes-disappointed-mookie-betts-signed-long-term-extension-with-dodgers/ Then he's trying to appease the fans why else would he openly make such statement to the media knowingly he going to be widely published. Especially after the news that Mookie Betts sign a mega deal with the Dodgers. There could also the scenario that he openly admitting a huge mistake on the part of the Red Sox for trading him.
  20. That's nothing but a line of BS that was even rebutted by Mookie himself to the media and sportswriters that claims of him not liking Boston were untrue and unfounded. Heck even Sam Kennedy the president of the Red Sox said those rumors were also untrue and that he was disappointed that Mookie sign a long term extension with the Dodger. He went on to say that they tried to sign Mookie to an extension but both side couldn't come together that's part of business. Now with those comments from Kennedy that would lead someone to believe that the Red Sox were still holding hope at having another crack of signing Mookie Betts in FA. The Red Sox made their decision on Betts pretty much right after the 2018 World Series. They never really attempted to engage Betts in contract extension talks. Kennedy repeatedly tried to soften the blow of losing Betts, saying last September that it would be “difficult” for the team to retain both J.D. Martinez and Betts. It would be one thing to have made a serious effort to keep Betts in Boston, only to see him turn the Red Sox down and force the club’s hand in trading him. But the ball was always in Boston’s court. The Dodgers paid to retain elite talent; the Red Sox chose not to.
  21. Now on who fault would that be not Mookie for sure he's not the one who decided to give Price his record deal or Sale 30 mil/year deal on busted elbow or Sandoval contract which they still pay today. Mookie was ranked the 2nd best baseball player in the game behind Mike Trout. So you're telling me if the Red Sox had Mike Trout the best baseball player in this era they would've traded him to get under the luxury tax. Sure look like they would've done it because they traded 2nd best player. This no longer a sport for the owners or players it's a bloody business it's all about the money the owners want to make as much profit as possible and the elite players want to be paid as much as possible. That why they fought so hard for free agency so they could negotiate their contracts. The Red Sox is one of the richest franchise in baseball there's no reason to cheap out on their roster especially when it come to elite players that came up through their farm system.
  22. Mookie Betts was a franchise player and the Red Sox didn't treat him like one. They rather give the money to unworthy players Chris Sale, 30 mil Price 16 mil, Pablo Sandoval 5 mil plus what about the money they gave Hanley Ramirez, Rusney Castillo to play AAA or Rick Porcello for one good season out of 5. Seem like the Red Sox like to overpay and reward mediocracy and fail to recognize and pay to keep elite talented players. The fail to keep the best baseball executive they ever hired by failing to recognize his brilliance only after consecutive disastrous seasons was his true value really acknowledged. Curse of the Bambino part deux.
  23. There's always a risk signing players to long term deals but one like this could be a blessing in the sky for the Dodger. Mookie is one of the best players in this era of baseball not to many are above his skills right now you've got Mike Trout that would be considered superior then it's Mookie.
  24. Jeff Passan reports that Betts and the Dodgers are finalizing a deal that would see him play with the Dodgers for 13 years worth more than 380 millions.
  25. The NHL just suspended the remainder of their season to early to predict anything on the playoffs
