  1. The Rays are playing the Blue Jays that weekend most likely the Rays will do the usual which is fairing very well against the Jays who right now are playing a mash of young kids trying to figure out who to keep for the rebuild. This series could allow the Rays surmount a bigger lead in the wildcard standing and the end it could very well be 9.5 game lead in Tampa's favor. Right now I think every game counts as crucial in the hopes of making the postseason.
  2. The 4 games series with the Yankees next weekend could be a well defining series in the Red Sox season. If the Red Sox are swept again their chances to make this year postseason is slim to none.
  3. You better make that 7 because the Red Sox are down 7 games to the A's and Rays in the wildcard standings.
  4. Yes I did but you can't compare the 2004 Red Sox who were playing close to .600 baseball plus they were leading the wildcard standings. Unlike today where they're playing just above .500 baseball and losing ground in wildcard standings.
  5. Seriously, how can you compare one game plus Brady played a heroic part in winning that game. Red Sox have an almost impossible feat facing them with one of their best pitcher sideline plus Oakland and TB Rays keeps on winning their games the writing is on the wall.
  6. Well the odds aren't certainly in their favor to do so they list the Red Sox as having a 2.3% of making the postseason and 0.2% winning the WS. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/BOS/2019-playoff-odds.shtml
  7. Now with Sale sideline for the season and Price with some recent wrist issues it's time for Porcello to show his true worth to this team will he step up and lead this pitching staff or will he go flaccid to leave others mop up his usual brutal outings. Hey Porky time prove me wrong that your 2016 season wasn't just a fluke and the team was really the culprit for your record and success that year.
  8. You couldn't get Ben and DD in the same room let along on the same team they have different views and philosophies regarding a team direction. Ben was offered a job to work with DD he refused and left the Red Sox organization. You have to give credit where credit is due he was good with player development and prospects that where Ben excelled and that's what he doing for the Blue Jays. As GM not so good but then again how much involvement did Larry Lucchino have in his decision making. Ben like investing a devolping a strong farm system and has a more wait till then approach versus DD who has a win now attitude with little regards towards a strong farm system. DD is notorious for for trading top prospects for proven veterans he's an old school GM by trying to buy championships versus building them. He traded one of the best pitchers in MLB for a rental when he was managing the Expos Randy Johnson for Mark Langston that had to be one of the stupidest trade baseball ever seen. The Red Sox are in trouble if they expect to rebuild with this guy his history speaks for itself.
  9. I think this is just the precursor to inevitable TJ surgery since last season he hasn't pitched dominate like he had shoulder issues, this year it's elbow problem plus since the start of the year he wasn't great even though he turned out a couple of good outing now he's shut down for the season. Who knows what next season be like it's very unlikely that he can labor through a full rigorous season again given his high mileage arm.
  10. Count down to the playoffs if there's one thing for certain the Red Sox are not making it this year. If you can't beat some of mediocre teams in baseball this picture is becoming quite bleak very fast.
  11. Walk the plank it's more like being thrown overboard without a life jacket.
  12. MLBPA is just like any other union they did exactly like any other trade or group union it gave solidarity to a group of individuals with a common interest.
  13. Ellsbury played it smart he went for the money, the owners consider it a business nobody is around for ever so might as well take all you can get.
  14. Ellsbury is getting paid his full contract value what the insurance doesn't cover the Yankees are responsible for the rest.
  15. Wrong Pedey condition is directly related to playing a on the field injury if he's unable to ever play again the Red Sox are still responsible for his contract. Prince Fielder was declared medically unfit for baseball the Rangers had his contract insured they pay the difference that the insurance doesn't cover. Prince Fielder officially retired from baseball.
  16. Especially that they got him for nothing along with relief pitcher Biagini and an OF prospect for a 4th outfielder that couldn't make a catch on a routine flyball that he caught in the face with a high K rate.
  17. Well there's 2 sides to this game an offensive and defensive side an everyday players should be able to both respectively well which cannot be said in JBJ case. Since 2016 his stats has been in a steady decline with each year progression the worst the numbers has become from 5.5 WAR to 0.9 WAR. The argument could be made is he worthy of even being an everyday player or a late defensive replacement.
  18. The Red Sox became a franchise like the Yankees once were spending on astronomical large sums of money on contracts for proven players, selling off high talented prospects to finance a championship. Now older the high accoladed veterans past their greatest years the organization is left with nothing but a handful of bad unrecoupable contracts and a decimated farm system to boot. Like mentioned above with the conditions the road to success could be very long a bumpy road ahead for many years. There's different ways to reach a championship as we are witnessing with so many teams today with restraint and investment the Red Sox choices could very well be a bitter pill swallow for many years to come.
  19. Not unless he picks up the pace there's no way JBJ will finish with .265 avg 327 OBP 402 SLG 729 OPS with 309 SB and 28.5 WAR career He's been a steady decline since 2016 right now he's navigating into a life boat that's taking on water and ready to sink anytime.
  20. Red Sox have some albatross contract on pitchers that have very well already expended their best years and their remainder doesn't look very promising. If the front office has any brains Porcello will be non tendered.
  21. We wouldn't that lucky
  22. JBJ should be nothing more than a late inning defensive replacement. I don't get all the clamoring for the guy he's definitely not the player we all expected him to be heck his stats won't even live up to a Coco Crisp like career. He reached his peek back in 2016 ever since it's been a steady decline with each year being worse than the previous all his stats are getting weaker as each year goes by his WAR is not even one. The way he's trending he'll be a negative WAR player by next season.
  23. Montreal had a good baseball following till Dickhead Jeffery Loria bought the team that's when the fans revolted against him who had no intention of keeping the team. It was nothing but a planned out scam involving then commissioner Bud Selig, John Henry and Jeffery Loria. Loria was to buy the Marlins from Henry who in turn was to buy the Red Sox even though he wasn't the highest bidder for the team and the league would take over Montreal Expos only to move them to Washington. There's been teams who had been struggling for years and MLB never took over their franchise and how can you explain 50 million dollars left on table and award the winning bid to the 2nd bid.
  24. Maybe the Montreal Ex-Rays
  25. Really you guys are going to crap on kid that has barely 35 or so games in so he in a little slump he showed more promise at the plate early in his career than JBJ ever did talk about someone who was lost at the plate . JBJ has been in a 7 year inconsistent slump with wait till next year attitude by some, other than his fluke in 2016 he has been dismal at the plate. He'll be lucky if he ever reach a .250 avg in his entire career so far that likely seem unreachable.
