  1. Even a better question what did Rick Porcello ever do in baseball to justify his 4 year $82.5 mil dollar contract? That's just plain stupidity on the Red Sox part you can't throw mil dollar contracts on mediocre players or pitchers.
  2. Actually Big Papi presence at the game yesterday wasn't a coincidence by all means he's going to replace DD in the front office.
  3. No he wasn't fired he stepped down and they made him President/CEO Emeritus of the Boston Red Sox and he was also elected in the Red Sox HOF.
  4. In Francona's book Terry stated that these owner don't understand or even like baseball they pretend they do but they really don't. Now the Red Sox has had the most front office staff change than any other franchises since 2004. Everyone in baseball is talking that they don't really understand reasoning behind this move. Under his tenure the Red Sox captured 3 divisional titles and a WS Championship one would have to admit that a pretty dam good record for any team. Theo Epstein was the best man the Red Sox ever had in their front office and he had to fight with this ownership constantly to the point he quit one day he eventually came back but that's beside the point. I'm sure the word is out on the Red Sox owners and this could very well deter good candidates from applying or even possibly thinking about working with these nutbars. Did I hear correctly last night from Jerry Remy criticizing and disliking Larry Luccino when he was in the Red Sox front office even though he didn't mention any name he stated that he was the only one the Red Sox didn't fire as he took another position within the organization.
  5. My bad Boras is Bogaerts and JBJ's agent.
  6. I think Betts made himself quite clear on the situation when ask if he was against signing an extension he replied NO but he also said that he would be lying if he would be ready sign an extension. I've already have my set value in mind and that's not negotiable if my demand are met I would sign a deal. Betts also like playing in Boston, like his teammates, like the staff and front office but he also said he understands that this is a business and he doesn't plan to sell himself short. He also asked last night with DD gone if that would make a difference in signing a deal his answer was doesn't matter who's in the front office it doesn't change anything on my views regarding my contract negotiations. Now with Scott Boras as his agent the king of extortion you can be assured that he'll have his homework done and the best deal forward for Mookie Betts he wiil be contacting many GM across the MLB.
  7. He was also one of the pitchers that got the most run support that season. If he had half the run support he got he wouldn't had the numbers so being on the most offensive team in the MLB helped him. His ERA will tell you exactly how good he really was anybody with an above 4.00 ERA isn't an elite pitcher in this league.
  8. Another one bites the dust and another one gone and another one gone. What else is new another name to add to list of people that the Red Sox will have to pay for not being here. Now will come the agony of defeat with no real answer for the future with all hands empty. The Red Sox now enters a new era of rebuild which DD wasn't good at now the new guy will have his hand full.
  9. Come give your head a shake anybody in their right mind wouldn't consider his 2015 season with a 9-15 record with .375 W-L% and 4.92 ERA worth 20 plus mil nor his 2017 season with 11-17 record with .393 W-L% and 4.65 ERA .In 2018 was least innings he pitched in any season since his debut in 2009 with 4.28 ERA now who knows how he'll end the season his outlook so far seem pretty dismal. The 2016 season is the only time he earned his due of 20 mil plus and the rest of his contract he was being overpaid for being a mediocre pitcher on great team.
  10. Well Porcello pitched another gem last night with 13.50 ERA 4 IP 7 H 6 R 6 ER 2 HR 1 SO .368 avg 1.75 WHIP. Most think he's worth his money simply because he's an inning eater well no matter the No of inning pitched if most of them are bad innings. I guess there's a good reason DD ignored his plea to give him an extension at reduced price to stay in Boston along with his outspokenness to even negotiate during the season.
  11. Mookie is no dummy he's in no rush to sign he seen too many big contracts given away to Machado, Harper and Trout. I think you're right he waits till the last minute to decide his course of action depending on his type of season.
  12. Baseball Reference contradict your analysis everyone you mentioned has higher career WAR numbers than Porcello. Cueto is way ahead of Porcello in WAR 32.3 vs 19.3 good thing you're not in a race you'd be so far behind you'd think you were first.
  13. Then why didn't you explain how come Verlander wasn't himself in 2014 and had an off year it was because he had to have muscle core repair surgery after the 2013 season . Everyone knows was Verlander wasn't himself 2014.
  14. Porcello was nothing more than a 4th ranked starter in Detroit. There's currently 16 pitchers making 20 mil plus in the MLB today. They are Strasburg, Scherzer, Grienke, Price, Kershaw, Verlander, Hernandez, Lester, Zimmerman, Arrieta, Tanaka, Keuchel, Porcello, Cueto, Darvish, and Hamels. Looking at that list we can all agree that Porcello clearly does belong with those names everyone else was establish as elite type pitcher something Porcello never was for his career avg WAR 1.75 not exactly your ACE pitcher type quality.
  15. Exactly my point I was trying to prove that Porcello is nothing more than an average pitcher and there's noway he 's worth the 82.5 mil dollars he's getting paid. He's getting an elite players salary for being an average mediocre pitcher.
  16. Average salaries should be used for average pitchers. According to Fangraph free agent players received 9 mil per war in recent years well if you look at Porcello WAR in 2015 when he signed his 82.5 mil 4 year deal it was -1.0 WAR. Even if you take his 1.78 WAR x 9 mil for 4 years that will only add up to 64 mil not 82.5 mil. Porcello is being overpaid for his type caliber of pitcher just like I said there's noway he's worth 21.5 mil dollars he'll go down just as an average pitcher in the MLB. Let me ask you this think the Red Sox will ever retire his number to put up along side the Red Sox Great Players.
  17. Funny you mention his xFIP who's right there with him at the bottom how substantial Wade Miley my comparison type to Porcello.
  18. Seriously, well according to his stats he accumulated 8.9 WAR during his tenure with The Red Sox according to statistics the average pitcher in the MLB is a 2 WAR player. Now take his 8.9 WAR he accumulated with the Red Sox in his 5 years that equals to 1.78 WAR per year. Now the salary for an average pitcher in the MLB is 5.2 mil/per year that's well below the 20 plus mil/per year that in Porcello contract. The years he had success is the years that the Red Sox were the best hitting team in the MLB and Porcello is one of the top pitchers that has received the most run support in the MLB. Eckersley even said so on a broadcast that the run support Porcello get when he's pitching is ridiculous something like 7.8 runs. Heck Porcello himself said the same thing he can't believe how much run support he gets everytime he take the mound. Porcello is nothing more than an average pitcher who got lucky to hit the lottery jackpot in a contract offered by a bunch of idiots in the Red Sox front office.
  19. Just because the Red Sox were stupid enough to give Price a ridiculous contract it doesn't boost the value of Porcello's erroneous deal whatsoever it just mean that they've got 2 real bad contracts on their hands. How about Jon Lester over that same period of time Lester managed to put up 15.7 war for the Cubs but he didn't get offered 20 plus mil/ year contract here. Nobody will tell me a pitcher with 4.30 plus ERA is worth 20 mil plus/year anywhere. I think your argument might hold better if you don't count the time remaining he's getting worst as he face any quality type opposition with his 5.63 ERA.
  20. Really! You're kidding me right I can't fathom why could anybody see an 82.5 mil dollar value in Porcello EVER. For cry out loud he's nothing more than a Wade Miley type pitcher with a lifetime 4,30 plus ERA. All the pitchers who make 20 mil plus/per year in the MLB Porcello shouldn't been one them guaranteed there's no logic to his contract heck his WAR number tell you he isn't worth the money they gave him. The sad part in all this is that they'll try to nickel and dime a player like Mookie Betts that truely deserve the money hopefully they can work put a deal but I'm not optimistic that will be the case. Too many big contract were signed by players with same level of caliber as Mookie.
  21. Last night showed how much confidence the management has in JBJ for his offensive capabilities NONE when a veteran player is pulled for a life long minor leaguer in a playoff drive. This should tell you going forward that he might not be around much longer especially as an everyday player.
  22. Looks like # 22 scratched right out at the gate tonight.
  23. Mookie is no dummy he knows what some of superstars of game got for contracts like Harper,Trout and Stanton. The Red Sox are lucrative franchise it's not Mookie's fault that they dished out lucrative contract to Price, Sale, JD Martinez 30 mil and 25 mil or even Porcello that they gave 21 mil for nothing. Why would Mookie need to accept a hometown deal just the Red Sox can be under the luxury tax he's not the problem others that are the under achievers and got the hefty payday for their mediocracy. Hopefully they can work out a deal but I won't blame him he goes elsewhere to find his deal if the Red Sox are too stupid to reward their good player and keep on rewarding mediocracy.
  24. Wow check which team he had some success with all bottom dwellers BAL, KC and COL weak teams he lost against LA and PHI the good teams. Now tonight the loss is solely on Porcello shoulders 4 IP 8 H 6ER 2HR 13.50 ERA .400 avg 2.50 WHIP is that what you get for 21 mil bucks. The pen did it job pitched 5 innings of scoreless baseball. Porcello was highly overpaid for his Red Sox tenure he never lived up to the contract he signed now more than ever when he's needed the most he's a total flop an embarrassment to all the fans.
  25. This could very well be an indication that the Red Sox are ready to unload JBJ in the upcoming off season. Very seldom would a team sit one of it's valued player in a postseason drive. Since his promotion to the big league JBJ has struggled at the plate every year with an inconsistent bat now the Red Sox only sees his true value in a defensive manner. The wait till next year banner has run it's course with the very same outcome year after year for the 30 yrs old veteran who has a declining avg as each year goes by it's highly unlikely he's going to miraculously start hitting after 7 seasons in the MLB. Anyways the Red Sox need find the money to keep Mookie Betts some harsh decisions will be taken this off season regarding the Red Sox as a team.
