  1. To top it off, turns out Fulmer is the fraud we expected he was. Cannot throw a strike.
  2. There's another bomb, Tanner. Heads up to those watching NESN
  3. Holy Cow, Phil. The umpiring calls on Balls/Strikes are atrocious already but that doesn't stop the Sox from K'ing 4 times in first 2 innings.
  4. The strategy appears to be , fall behind early then make a rapid rush towards a comeback starting in the 7th or 8th inning. Makes it exciting, fans love the grit and determination of the never quit boys but often results in a .500 season record.
  5. Getting on base and scoring early does not happen with the 2025 Red Sox
  6. I think Jarren Duran's contribution , or lack thereof, is more critical than solving Cedanne's issues. Anthony will solve the Rafaela dilemma by show of hitting force soon enough. Duran as leadoff has got to have an above average OBP to go with his speed and disruptive baserunning. A .286 OBP with only 3 doubles and no HR after 17 games ( 70 ABs/5 BBs but 19 K's) is not going to keep him there. He is the oldest of the OF regulars , and is not likely to be given a big money extension by Boston . A weak 2025 will cement that reality. Going on a limb here, Duran's mental makeup as displayed on Clubhouse shows his self defeating lack of true confidence. It may motivate himself but the internal raging of self deprecation will eat him up. Sort of reminds me of the Jimmy Piersall story from the '50s . The Never Good Enough Son of the Father syndrome. Conclusion: You may see Jarren on the trade block come July before any of the others . He needs to get on base for his stuff to work.
  7. For Brayan Bello, the nighttime is the right time , but the nightlife ain't no good life .
  8. Yes, it looked like we actually had a real staff and competition for slots. Bello and Giolito should be back but be prepared for about 3 "training wheel" starts before getting what the Sox are paying for. Newcomb should be ( and Fulmer too) only long relief or part of a BP game. Sean has no "out" pitch. The loss of Fitts and his work to then comeback is a problem because he performed like a starting pitcher . I bet he misses 6 weeks before back on the mound. Rotation should be Crochet, Buehler, Houck, Bello, Giolito. Can't wait for the week when that actually happens.
  9. Regarding motivation , internal or external, once certain guys get paid ($$$$) there may be a natural letdown in the hard work and mental approach that got them there. How does Cora motivate a young kid who just went from dirt poor at home 3 years ago to be a multi-millionaire ? It has to mess with their heads .
  10. I think as long as the opportunity is there to start the thread then that is good to go. If you fellows see it is not up when you check in, then do post it .
  11. The pitching matchup does not look favorable for a team of batters in a collective run slump. But, it will finally a warm weather game. Maybe all that maple and ash will wakeup . One thing to watch over the year will be the effect of weather on the Rays and opponents. The Trop may have sucked but it did have A/C. Playing outdoors all summer in hot humid Tampa will wear some guys out, especially pitchers . I guess the old Florida State League (D) dealt with it and produced some MLB players.
  12. Still thinking Whitlock is the right guy ? But who else do we trust ?
  13. Hah, Meidroth , of course. BP better hold this lead and get the win to GC
  14. Story gets away with a strong flyball, when the RF'er doesn't want to run hard to the landing spot at the foot of the wall. 2 runs should be good to go for Crochet.
  15. Crochet throwing a gem but with no run support . Really ridiculous pop fly hitters
  16. No offense but it is looking like another NO OFFENSE DAY
  17. News Flash : Red Sox do not score in the first inning despite Bregman's 2 out single and Abreu's rocket shot into the 1Bman's glove.
  18. You have just lost a series to a team that was 2-10 when you arrived, but increased their win total by 100% . The South Side of Chicago thanks you.
  19. Sure enough they lose it. Was the No Throw on the steal attempt caused by no one apparently moving to cover second ??
  20. Now bottom 9. They cannot win it here, but could lose it. Or wait until 10th with ghost runner action.
  21. Ahhh success, up to 11 K's so the MLB lead is still ours
  22. Struggling with a 3-10 team, and only that because of last night's beatdown . Cannot find a hitter to step up and carry the load. at a key moment when games can be won.
