  1. Where the heck did that one cross the zone. Actually never even reached the plate before X achieved the Red Sox nirvana---the Solo HR. Solo Cup company should adopt this team
  2. These pitches are layups, upper middle zone. get down early, get beat. Looks just like last night
  3. Why do i smell a Porcello on the grill.
  4. Drive your own ass home
  5. Small credit to Cora for only taking 2 months to see that Beni was not able to handle the lead off slot . If he had a better dream, he could have moved Beni to 6th and Holt to #2, although that would upset the #2 hitter formula Chavis at #7 does break up the 3 straight sub .200 string that has anchored this lineup for 2 months
  6. Why would he do that ? Swing at a pitch a foot outside
  7. German pitch count is on pace for about 5 innings. So we will be able to pound their BP for 4 innings.... oh wait, maybe not a good idea
  8. Seeing eye Sandy saves the inning. Good timing, 2 out hitting
  9. Chavis is a lot like a pitcher who can throw 100+ but has no other pitch at all. Doesn't take long for everyone to figure him out. He'll get some shots, but no consistent contact. Followed by JBJr,
  10. Time for Chavis to unload and take this game to a great start WTF Cora takes the one guy who may leave the yard and shows bunt in the second inning. The pitch was real hittable
  11. Junior curling, professional darts and pro bowling
  12. They had to move it a little to account for the umpire's cross eyed condition
  13. Fox's little chart on Red Sox first inning ineptitude at the plate was revealing , as was Beni's clueless K .Scoring first and early, changes the flow of the game through the middle and later innings. Rick p. is notorious for giving up early inning runs. But looked pretty strong in the first tonight
  14. Cora had a dream and woke up saying this is the way to win . Mookie to the top. Beni's 3 for 40 leading off wwas an epic missed opportunity to benefit from Mookie's power.
  15. Would consider a Cup win for the Bruins a real equal to the Red Sox 2018 playoff campaign. Just beat whoever they put in front of you. It would help if Pastrnak would shoot one time, Marchand control the puck and shoot and Bergeron make it all look easy.
  16. Thanks for the added #'s exonerating Sale. The problem remains at least this year that the team loses his starts , more than any other Sox regular starter. That may be the hitters assuming Sale will get a shutout every time so don't need to work at creating runs. Or do the Sox always line Sale up against the opponents ACE ? I don't think that is the case.
  17. I would not trade Hernandez if he does in fact have an MLB arm, and can get his command.control. The Red Sox don't need to develop an in-house rookie pitcher just to say they did it. They need to to cure this budget imbalance that may be hamstringing the bullpen or 2B position, or a a catcher in a couple years. Having a MLB minimum pitcher going every 5 days would be a win for the Sox, and not as a #5/6 spot starter fill-in.
  18. This fact is worth Notin(g), Of course, the Dodgers then met the Grim Reapers of 2018. Also the 1978 images are burned in my memory, along with Papelbon and dildo Crawford in 2011.
  19. Thanks, Notin. Appreciate the info . Accordingly, it seems that lack of support is a more significant factor in his losses than in his meaningful stats. The .794 OPSA being mostly singles may be exacerbated by how many are on base. Hicks 2 out, 2 strike single last night plated 2.
  20. As we shared the other day, gotta have some fun with this hot mess. As the lawyers say, If you have the facts, argue the facts. If you have the law, argue the law. If you don't have either and are a Red Sox fan, just argue.
  21. Just to wear this out pregame, Sam Houston was born in Virginia and his family migrated to Tennessee . He later lived with Cherokee Guardians , was known as the Raven, which is more than a certain squaw Senator from MA can say. He fought in the War of 1812 , was a U.S. Rep from Tennessee and only went to Texas in 1832 . William B. " Buck" Travis North American ancestors appeared in the late 1600's, but he was born in So. Carolina, and grew up in Alabama. Married, became a lawyer , got indebted (see married) eventually wandered off to Mexican Texas in 1831, later organizing a militia to eventually participate in the Texas Revolution . Died at the Alamo in 1836, not survivng to see the Republic of Texas , formed under Sam Houston's leadership a few months after the Alamo . Both Houston and Travis knew Davey Crockett well, but neither knew Sam Travis or his folks in Chicago, which is an Indian name for stinking onions.
  22. That's why DD was so concerned with the BUDGET, he failed to get a good reliever. He looked in the NATIONAL league, but didn't have the DOLLAR he needed. The Sox as an ENTERPRISE could afford whatever they wanted but chose to bat chAVIS SIXTh . By the way, Sam Houston didn't fight at the ALAMO. William Buck TrAVIS did and died for his efforts . Why you ask ?? Because he had no RELIEF forces.
  23. I would like to see Sale's stats when pitching with 2 strikes . His K totals would indicate an excellent (low ) BA/OPS against. But also like to see #'s when pitching with 2 outs, and likewise with RISP . I'm beginning to think he may suffer from a syndrome sometimes seen with Buchholz , Bard and others . No need to be subtle---Does Chris Sale have problems when under pressure ? I agree with most that W-L's are to a significant degree out of the pitcher's direct control. Over a large sample, allowing some of randomness to level out, you would expect a dominant "ACE" to win more times than lose. Sale in 2018 and 2019 does seem to get poor support, but how does his run support compare to other leading #1's or even the whole staff?
  24. Can we honestly drop the EARLY from here on out in reference to 2019. We are now in the Mid-Season stretch of June-July. To put a finer point on it, if Boston wins their next 7 in a row ( a first for 2019) and the Yankees lose their next 7 in a row, the Sox will only be 1 1/2 games out. Better yet the Red Sox need to win today to stop a 3 game losing streak, which IIRC, was 2018's longest . Or maybe just show some competitiveness and resiliency. It will be of interest to see if Steve Pearce's bad back IL stint is the beginning of the end of his time with the Sox. Over twelve million dollars of 1Bmen, in their 30's, on the IL. The replacements are Chavis and Travis. Those two should get an AVIS endorsement.
