  1. Beni for Sogard ?? Nice leadoff walk from Erod
  2. One surprising takeaway from OB was that the Sox were 18-9 (now 18-10) for last 27/28. That's a pace that will win pennants (See 108-54). Why do they feel so much like a .500 team, losing at home, if they are not ??
  3. 3 run HR from Beni to soothe the fan base
  4. A key point about an inconsistent team that never caught fire. A season long malaise
  5. Rather than try to make some urgent moves to salvage a WC one gamer, maybe better to let these play this one out , just let it happen with no major involvement in roster rebuilding. Then this winter do some surgery and spending with a new budget and bring a better executing team in 2020. If they make the WC this time, so be it, not concerned one way or another.
  6. He did the last time we saw him. Why did they expect anything different ? I don't think DD nor Cora really did.
  7. What is most frustrating is getting beat AGAIN at Fenway by the McKinney's and Sogards of the world. More runs given up to the bottom of the order guys than can be counted. Cora goes to one of his better (relative term) relievers in Hembree and he has a sucking chest wound. Forces Cora to go to Ryan "Grillman" Weber. That says all you need to know.
  8. BTW, the $6+ million paid to Pearce may be the worst use of premium money since hiring Fat Panda.
  9. There usually was one key pitcher on the many rosters but never two or more to basically beat the Yankees. Mel Parnell , Jim Lonborg, Radatz (relief), Clemens, Pedro, Koji, Kimbrel . Now we have Chris Freakin Sale, also for no obvious advantage
  10. I agree, they may as well get acclimated in this next to nothing season, which still could surprise in terms of a WC game. There will be a pitching overhaul in the off season, and these cheap young guys are likely to have a role in 2020.
  11. To what significant advantage ? It just isn't present when needed unfortunately
  12. F me. It's not the tell all but an indicator---Darwinzon has used 18 pitches to get 1 out, issued a walk, throwing in the dirt a lot. The pitching is almost unsolvable at this point.
  13. Hadn't seen Mr. Popper Upper for awhile, but glad he's on our team
  14. JDM being stifled trying to get to 50 rbi's. Good thing Bogaerts has 74, challenging Trout for AL lead.
  15. Moreland apparently working out at Fenway last few days. Might DH at Pawtucket tomorrow. Pearce is MIA
  16. Pretty late to the game, but glad to see Cashner fits right in with our staff and team. As Cora says, consistently inconsistent. He also noted that it was mid-July (must have looked at his desk calendar) and that it was time to get it going.
  17. Rick pushing the pitch count at 37 for 2 innings. He needs to get 6 but that will be about all at this pace.
  18. The Porcello flies as usual. The big lead may hold up but Rick is dealing napalm and may get burned. Then Rafi extends the inning. look out
  19. Feeling really bad for Thornton. This just isn't fair . NOT
  20. Thornton is a nibbler. be surprised if the Sox don't try to get him before the deadline
