    You cannot overestimate the value of the visiting team winning the opening game in a best of 5. Totally turns the balance around and opens the chance of a sweep. Losing #1 puts big pressure on winning the second and if no luck there, your team can be swept. Win the first one , and then crush them like the little leaguers they are.

    Santana and Perez may be subtractions by addition . The demise of Matt Barnes is a shame and a waste of talent , but unless he has a hidden physical problem, I'm not surprised that he's considered currently unreliable. He will have the offseason to visit his favorite sports psychologist.

    The Sox and Rays have tended to play tight one run differential games leading to the raised possibility of extra inning games, 12 pitchers could be warranted. Recall EO's rare effort stint vs the Dodgers in 2018. On the other hand, who is #12 ---Garrett Richards or Matt Barnes or Ottovino ??

Untouchable record Farrell, much maligned, had his team add another in 2013 Cora's 2018 team posted the all-time Red Sox win record and got a 4th ring in a 14 year period . Given the clueless dumbasses preceeding these guys, except Dick Williams , we have been well led in the 2000's.

    Rosters were due in about 25 minutes ago----wondering if JDM is being listed just in case or for the return to Fenway . Haven't seen any release of names yet on various sites

    Keys to victory over the Rays ? We saw some of them last night 1. Command/control pitching, minimal free passes. 2. Power hitting by the top 5 in the lineup 3. Bullpen success--no starter will get 6 innings complete 4. JDM, can he hit/run effectively. I'm guessing he will be marginal through Sunday. It will be a gut call to roster him 5. Error free defense and baserunning 6. Some contribution from bottom 3 in the order , Vaz/Plawecki, Dalbec, Arroyo Not much to ask for but that assemblage could beat the Rays and just about anyone else

    Whatever happens from here on is gravy on the Thanksgiving turkey. Take it as far as they can but no worries regarding the Rays. They are a great team, unlike the highly flawed Yankees . Let's play and see what happens.

    I've been watching the Red Sox in Boston and elsewhere for over 65 years and I will never ever get tired of seeing them beat the f***ing Yankees and get their manager fired tomorrow. Also glad to have likely seen the last of Brett Gardner . I'm sure there is another one on the way, but for the moment good-bye to all the NYY'ers. You don't have to leave but you got to get out of here.
