  1. Seriously, how often this year have we seen our starter almost perfect but Sox play from behind due to no hitting ? Have to wait until 7-8-9 to string together a tie. so we can go ghost. But surprise boys. no ghost in playoffs I believe
  2. He needs to opt out. Good for him, good for us
  3. That's twice a single would have tied or led the game. Now you get Fried for another inning
  4. 2 out walks at least stretch Fried is to more pitches. but Story gets an infield single. Can anyone jack one out?
  5. Yankee crowd cannot distinguish a 300' pop fly from a 450' blast
  6. Crochet is not finishing his pitches well but still gets Ks
  7. I will be ok with it if Refsnyder retires after this season. Good player. can hit some but not going to make a big difference Story forgot September already and Fried makes him look foolish
  8. How many of us penciled in Sogard in the starting lineup of a playoff game?
  9. The previous 2 finished games today had the loser scoring only 1 run. Sox have the Yanks right where they want them
  10. Bregman , more so than anyone in the lineup can make the Sox competitive today with a couple of XBH, preferably a HR. Fried has already sat down Lowe and Abreu, without throwing a pitch. Duran is the only LH'er in the lineup. Sogard starts due to his switching abilities. That lineup gives us 2 good PH possibilities when Boone gets into his BP late with a RH'er. Tough matchup both ways, hoping it doesn't come down to errors, poor baserunning or in game injury to any Sox. Take our chances in NY, it's what we played for all year.
  11. I am with those above who are not overly anxious about the upcoming series in NY. I always want to win, but the team will accomplish what it can, and for now, just glad to be there competing. The joy of sending the Yankees home will only be more over the top, but not going to fret about it. Still savoring the 0-3 to 4-3 memories that will never be dimmed, plus the 4 WS wins this century. Maybe even looking forward to next year's action prematurely. Yes, some slots to be plugged with stronger players, including the mound, but just consider the internal talent pool that this playoff team has compared to any recent previous season.
  12. Certainly feel bad for Giolito on a personal basis but he has multi-millions of JH's money for limited output . If he gets his arm well again, some GM/CBO will take a chance on him. Where's Bloomie, St. Louis??
  13. I imagine the Sox now decline the 2026 option while wishing Giolito well in future endeavors. I do wonder if a club's liability to a player injured as a result of playing under contract is limited to covering the medical and rehab costs, but not to continuing the expiring contract.
  14. Duran continues to K at lead off. He really needs to correct that Maybe he should talk to HR Masa
  15. Next point of interest will be the 26 man roster for playoff series. The only possible adds from the IL that I see are Bernardino and May , but haven't seen anything definitive on their current status. Not excited about May in any case. The roster allows 13 pitchers and 13 others , making the typical in season bench of a catcher ( Wong) , Utility OF'er ( Refsnyder ) , Useful idiot ( Hamilton PR'er ?) and Utility IF'er ( pick from Eaton or Sogard,) The 13 pitchers are predictable and feature guys you have been seeing for awhile. It will include Tolle, Harrison and Early in the 13 unless Brez and AC think Bernie and/or May is a better choice. DeLeon will be dropped off at a bus stop unless he throws a no-hitter
  16. I would still sit Bregman and Narvaez to give their legs more rest. Ok with PH'ing them if needed.
  17. Looking to see if AC puts the A lineup back on today . I am not worried unduly about facing NYY. I think the Sox get in their heads. But I would give Judge 4 balls each time up.
  18. I think you are seeing Skubal tomorrow as Tigers try to get division
  19. This may be just observational inattention but why do the Sox hitters ( all of them) not occasionally hit a high , not so deep flyball into the monster seats or down the RF line wrap around the Pesky monument ? Where are the HR's , and don't say in SF ? They will be needed in the playoffs. You're looking at a playoff team that has just two hitters above 20 HR's ( Story at 25; Abreu at 22). RBI's are worse; Story comes close at 96 but will not reach 100. Second is Duran at 83. Bregman missed too much time to be a real factor and has not hit well since return to play on 1.75 legs
  20. And a 2 out walk to the #9 hitter to load the bases for Jones. A mistake but Early was good enough for a win opportunity except the backups cannot hit much better than the regulars. Sox are only interested from the 7th inning on, and prefer to play from behind.
  21. Lowe could have been idiot if he accidentally injured Narvaez on that pop up . Carlos had clearly called it
