My only take on it is that you can only win the game you are currently playing, not tomorrow's or yesterday's. Thereby , Cora's dilemma was to see how to win today. Whitlock was the right choice for the 8th. but Whitlock is not a shutdown guy with 2 outs and 2 strikes. He frequently allows the leadoff guy to reach base. But after surrendering the 2nd run he finally bore down and ended the inning. Weissert gets the close opportunity and blows . he mimics Whitlock when needing a shutdown. But Matz was the real criminal in all this surrendering a 2run HR to a LH hitter. But maybe the real culprits are the 1-4 hitters who sucked. Keep in mind Abreu's HR was a fluke The lineup lost this game in conjunction with the BP

For being a. incompetent, unskilled thrower who gave up 3 runs in the Marlins 9th. forcing Cora to use Chapman yesterday . This action prevented Chapman's use today to close out the 9th with the Sox leading. Instead Weissert and Matz choked on the chicken. But you knew all that, so why ask ? .
