  1. Story looks like he's been playing 2B all this season.
  2. Talking about base stealing ability, not hitting, lol
  3. Loving Manny's comment: "If you haven't played in Boston or New York, you haven't played in the big leagues" Great insight
  4. Tigers may not be the ultimate measure, but they are the team we are playing tonight, and Winky is setting them down very efficiently.
  5. Make me an offer, just not Kimbrel
  6. The Padres would be worth a phone call to see if they need Bogaerts with Machado and Tatis out for a potentially long time . Couldn't happen to a more wonderful jerk. In truth, Bogaerts to me has been the MVP and leader of this team for a few years. It will be bittersweet to see him go, but unless there is a major change in negotiations , Bogey will go before the trade deadline
  7. Red, that is a weak lineup over there in the third base dugout. Sort of reminds me of the April-early May Sox with the 4 sub Mendoza line sluggers
  8. Leadoff man gets on base, crosses the plate twice . But wait the Detroit boys are not the '22 Yankees, so don't applaud yet.
  9. So the Sox pay some cash to the Phillies for James Norwood, add him to the roster , then DFA him without ever pitching one throw. Must have reported out of condition. Jeter Downs takes his place to start his clock. Are some guys going to be showcased expecting action later in June ?
  10. Who has the bigger likelihood of a good future in MLB----Cordero or Dalbec ?
  11. That was a double play ball except for the shift. I'll be glad when they modify shift rules next year
  12. JDM, not trying to do too much, just enough to get a run. What do you know, the leadoff man (Duran) got on base, stole a base and scored on an simple single. Amazing difference to the first 50 games
  13. Cabrera with a .297 BA , but a .709 OPS tells you what ? One of the great singles hitters in 2022
  14. D, not sure if the Sox won every remaining game to astound the baseball world, that your anxiety would be assuaged. But keep rooting them on because they could turn cold again. Or not....
  15. The next 30 days will determine if we are buyers or sellers going into the trade deadline. More likely we are neither in a big way . The real question is the status of Xandewr and JDM, perhaps Eovaldi based on the Red Sox position vs the playoffs. If they move Kike Hernandez as a minor deal, so be it.
  16. Not highly relevant, but Mookie Betts went on the IL for a broken rib following an outfield collision. Mookie is having a down year, by his standards , featuring two significant slumps. If his rib recipe is anything like Sale's maybe Chaim can persuade his old buddy Freidman to send us a gift in the BP for Arroyo and whatever else we want to ship westward.
  17. Many are calling for Bloom to pick up 1 or 2 stronger relievers by the deadline, though sooner would be better. But you will only pop a good pitcher off a team that is not competitive and that will cost prospects or multi-year controllables. OR you could find a contending team with an injury issue that would want X, JDM, Eovaldi (expiring contracts). It will get interesting.
  18. Combine the 8th and 9th for 67 in 58 games, almost all on the BP's ledger (except 3 CG's) or 1.16 runs per game in last two innings. The two with the Cardinals, Friday/Sunday--both wins, are actually outliers and the Saturday big loss didn't matter because it was unwinnable after Crawford's first inning.
  19. This is my theory on one inning relievers. Once they hit 20+ pitches, you need to get them out in front of the next hitter. Maybe like the third time through the lineup for starters, the effectiveness of these guys slides like wet mud after they throw the 20th pitch
  20. In all seriousness, f*** Danish. Now Houck can skip tomorrow trying to finish this one.
  21. It's worse after today for JDM. He bats 9th from now on.
  22. Drats !! Houck denied the role as head Saver . He'll never get the chance with this hard hitting 8th inning before they wake up team.
  23. I do think the big eyeball test FAIL lies on JD Martinez. in terms of being the right guy hitting with men on base , including RISP. Dalbec remains on the highball express to NoWhereland. After his late season contributions in 2021, he has regressed .
  24. So does this mean Houck for the Save in the 9th? Not sure I wouldn't let Schrieber go after the first guy based on the 8th inning performance. Good news is that Goldschmidt and Arenado are not likely to get up again
