    See if the boys can force the tying run from 2nd to 3rd with less than two outs. At least that gives two chances at keeping it going. I only say that because obviously a home run is out of the question

    Forget that the pitching through 9 innings held the Jays to 2 runs. How many LOBs did the failure to hit leave out there when the game was easily winnable. I will put as much of the failure of this team on the majority of the position players who could not hit when needed, sometimes not even making contact , much less a hit.

    Hugh, here's how it correlates : Sale cannot even throw the baseball, once again, so therefore he has no "stuff'. I understand your point but anyone who looks at Chris Sale as anything except dead money until he actually returns to the mound and earns some has no stuff. Speculating about what he can and cannot do is pointless. He was back, then unluckily took a shot off his finger, then fell down riding his bike. Why is he such a subject of interest ?

    I wonder if the pitchers know they suck when they are warming up in the pen. 3rd most walks in the AL, can't get the 3rd strike or out. Giving it up late . Still it only shadows the inability to score runs.

    I truly hope Dave Bush reviews Barnes's videos with him to point out how his mechanics and overthrowing body motion ruins what stuff he does have. Matt is mentally and physically unhinged out there. Essentially he got 3 outs on 25 pitches with 3-2 counts everywhere, and a wild pitch to put a runner in scoring position.

    probably just my eye test being in error but in this start and numerous previous ones, Nick sure seems to struggle with 2 outs , putting men on base, a lucky hit, etc. I have talked to Cora about it, and he agrees. Pull Nick whenever 2 outs.

    Red Sox recall Franchy Cordero as the 27th man for tonight's "Special Event" game with the Orioles. Hosmer out with sore back and Pham says his is hurting too. The team needs a back coach . His room would be full with a waiting list.

    The Red Sox will NEVER get to 10,000 wins without a decent closer . They also need to get rid of Bloom and Cora to have a chance. Also DFA anyone who is or will be a "dead money" contract burden. Also draft better, develop a pitcher once a decade and improve the farm system depth chart.

    This site has turned, for no good reason , into the same 'civil war" as our politics so Fire Cora, Fire Bloom, Henry should sell out. All the players suck, or are the best ever. JDM is broken down, X is old and stiff, Devers never will amount to anything and is not worth a 2 month contract for $10,000, Sale is Freakin' or a grave robber , a closer is critical or doesn't matter, Story is a typical Colorado slacker. Duran Duran should stick to music or sucks at every opportunity . Dalbec, Cordero and Sanchex=z should be tied up in a ball of wax and lit on fire. Asswipe Houck can't close or last a season, but should be a starter and Whitlock should still be a Yankee if we didn't trade for Ottovino. Get a hold of yourself guys and analyze what's going on. Sox either win tomorrow or this season is over.

    Like yourself, I think I have seen a lot of baseball over decades. I watch the plays and replays and trust most of what I see. Dugo has in the past dogged it on occasion, but i think he was looking for a rebound off that paddded wall. It makes, however, an absolute nothing burger because Whitlock got the 3 outs before orioles got 4 runs, so screw it.

    It sort of hit at the base of the wall and did not rebound hard. It did look a little odd, but I didn't put that one on Dugo

    3 up/3 down and the season will continue. Nominal gain in overall terms but better than a loss that would have ended any dreaming.
