    There was a day (2018) when you would not have walked a guy in front of JDM like that. An intentional . unintentional ball 4. But it is August 30, 2022 so it's not that day today. I would be very glad if JD makes them pay with a big hit.

    Nice hit by Pham to tighten the game up. Too bad Archer is pulled. he might have given up a bomb. Looking at the Sox current lineup , it is one of the few times when 7 of the 9 hitters exceeded .700OPS ( 2 at .800+). Only Kike and McGuire are in the .600s.

    The offensive onslaught vs a hack like Archer continues with 3 rollers to the infield. I'll mail Kutter a ten spot c/o the Sox @ Fenway if he holds the Twins scoreless in the third.

    Kutter's "short" arm delivery looks more like a catcher's throw than an MLB pitcher. Sometimes you see relievers with odd deliveries ( sidearm, submarine, screwball ) but rarely in a starting pitcher.

    Dig the hole (deficit) a little deeper. It will be more exciting when the Sox rally to win, unless we score equal to last night. In that case this game is over with one out in the 2nd.

    Like some of the young batters who have had chances to play with reasonable AB opportunities, the young pitchers are not showing much advancement in their abilities

    Can't pitch with 2 outs. Can't get a pitch where he wants it. Throws way too many pitches. Gives up the key 2 out hit. Kutter isn't cutting it. Once again, fall behind in the first and play from behind .

    Chris Archer was one of those young Rays pitchers who seemed destined for good things but has not really been able to fully capitalize on his talent. W-L's are not the best measure of a pitcher but Archer has had only 2 seasons (2013 9-7; 2014 10-9) with winning records . ERA stays in the 4.'s and Whip tends to run 1.3-.4 with less than 9 Ks per 9 innings typical. Maybe the Red Sox can bring the bats out tonight , and run/field smartly to overcome the Twins.

    It was a good pitch in the situation, if Urshela only chased it and missed. Otherwise blind jerry Meals would have called it Ball 4 and walked in a run. Granted that walk , the 4th of the inning would have only tied the score. My comment was actually directed at the Boston hitters who once again showed little ability to score in response and challenge for the lead and the win. They did not score vs a decent BP effort in the 6th/7th/8th and 9th.

    3 AAA unready guys in the starting rotation, and a bullpen including one rookie who pitched in his first MLB game tonight ( did well), and Kaleb ORT who ort to find a new line of work.

    The moment that Urschela's bat touched Schreiber's slider in the 5th , this game was over. No hope once they were 2 down.

    Blood Pudding = BP = Bullpen, explains everything. looks like Ort accepted his instruction well and extends his inning with a 2 out walk, but no damage

    Yes, Meals definitely squeezed Bello and Schreiber at bad moments. His positioning behind the catcher is extreme and blocks his view or low corner pitches.
