  1. You can only win the one you are playing. Yesterday's gone. My real concern with this team and , by inference, with Cora, is the lack of intensity it takes to win. This is not an exciting team with players who pull wins out of defeats. It doesn't matter that they have already chalked up another lost season , it matters that they do not know how to win. The legacy of Bloom will be a rebuilt farm system, always helpful, and a MLB level team that just accepts defeat over and over with no visible reaction. They are passive, not aggressive. They are defeated in their profession.
  2. Here's another one for you , Moon. Schreiber is incapable of getting anyone out when it counts My bad, he K's Garcia Oh wait, he walked in a run with 2 outs Check it again, he gets the requisite 2 outs after a hit , 2 walks and 2 runs allowed. Brilliant
  3. Yo, Sox score on error. Aroldis shuts the "rally" down
  4. Chapman K's Raffy on 3 pitches with 2 RISP. The HR vs Chapman in NY is now history receding in the rear view mirror.
  5. Have no fear ; the Lloveras of the bullpen will still sink the ship.
  6. Yankees getting pounded by Blue Jays. 4th place may be closer than ever if the Sox can hold this one.
  7. Which idiot in the FO found this Bernardino guy ?
  8. Houck better get a ground ball here. He's flailing around Instead gives up a no out ground ball single after two walks to tighten it up 3-2. Cora is pulling him. Be honest; Houck has not shown he can be a starter with expectations of 6-7 innings. Same as Whitlock. Both can be bullpenners or 3 inning openers.
  9. Houck into the 4th inning and about halfway through the second 9 in the lineup. A quick inning with low pitch count would be a great outcome.
  10. Eovaldi looks cooked. Will always appreciate 2018 with Nate Sox help Tanner with 3 runs and not one really hard hit ball. HBP, walks and ground ball singles. Take'em anyway you can get them.
  11. Houck, looking sharp, gives up the obligatory Sox starter, HR with 2 outs . Then a double and a walk where Tanner shows he is off his game of challenging the hitters. Gets out with only the 1 run but blows his pitch count up to the standard 5 inning rate.
  12. 15 games ago the Sox were still in contention for the 3rd WC .. They were in Tampa to start a 3 game set after taking 2 of 3 from KC. The record , including winning the 1st game in Tampa, has been 5-10 Over that stretch Verdugo has gone : .172/.493 1 HR/3 RBI Yoshida has gone : .222/.646 2HR/6 RBI Duvall has gone : .143/.536 3 HR/6 RBI Of course, Devers has gone: .364/1.140 with 4 HR's and 8 RBI
  13. Todays the day to get the AL East back to all teams at .500 or above. They may be last in the East but still first in our hearts.
  14. Nice win from the guys. On the road , again, never at Fenway.
  15. Even when Story gets on he manages to mess things up. But the 2 run lead is solid
  16. Overall Kutter's start against a possible playoff team has been excellent. The hitting for the past week is what is inexplicable, except for Dever's incredible turnaround as the menace to opposing pitchers.
  17. What, no high school SS's available ?
  18. i do like CB's "punch out" move . Whether it is a strike or not. Apparently Hernandez has not umped much at all until about mid July due to some back problems. Glad to hear that.
  19. The 6th inning for a Sox starter is like a marathon across the Empty Quarter in Saudi. Just not going to end well.
  20. I'd have to flip the coin between BD and AD. It would probably land on its edge , so I'd take neither. Neither has any consistentcy
  21. Duvall: 20 K's in 31 SBs ?? Hard to do
  22. Dalbec enjoying his showcase. It would be revealing about the coaching if he became a true player elsewhere. Nahhh, that's not likely
  23. Regarding Cora, he certainly will not resign for any reason after the regular season. He will await the new CBO/GM regime, see if he likes them and vice versa. He could get fired if the new regime wants to flush the clubhouse mentality which may or may not be any good. I doubt Bloom is a kiss and teller, but if Cora is let out the door, I promise he will express his opinion and probably nail Bloom for his player selections.
  24. Just to twist your knockers, isn't it revealing that Devers gets hot and is Player of the Week right after the Sox effectively packed it in for the year . What's wrong, is he not clutch ? Just don't see him as a leader on this team
