    After 2 starts each ( Houck after 5 today) , Whitlock has completed the fewest innings 9.1 to Bello's 10.0, but other wise Bello is the statistically worst stat-man in all categories among these 5 guys. The BP as a group , subject to today's game finishing well, have been very good to excellent. Even Joely shows promise .

    Valdez could up his game a bit by letting some pitches just hit him. HP umpire called him out on a pitch clearly outside. He also needs to work on his positioning for throw downs on steal attempts. He is too far in front of the bag , shorts the throw and needs a big sweep tag. Trout's wide slide indicate he saw a path away from Valdez.

    That hit off Detmers propelled rising star Jarren Duran into a tie with Enmanuel Vazquez for Sox team lead in RBI's with 5 . O'Neill with 4 HRs only has the 4 RBIs from scoring himself.

    I can't even comment on the streak-busting shitshow I saw at Angels Stadium last night. It featured all that is exciting about this team; 14K's, 3 hits , egregious defense on the left side, many many 3-2 counts followed by 5 foul offs leading to Whitlock's departure in the 5th. Not a shutdown pitch in Whitlock's repertoire. 3 missed calls at 2B by bumpire , although each call benefitted the Sox until 2 were overturned. A streak ending loss where the opponent scored on terrible defense by Devers and Reyes . 6 walks , including 2 to a guy( Shanuel) hitting .091 and 2 to Moniak hitting exactly .000 so far. On the other hand, overall the BP kept the Sox in position to win and Duran got the 1 RBI, plus a great catch in left to save runs. Detmers schooled Casas and Reyes , both of whom were clueless.

    Trusting that Story will be out for an extended period , who comes up from Worcester or elsewhere ? Hamilton , who has not shown up well yet ? Does Breslow go shopping for a SS, lol, if it looks like 60+ day IL.? For a team that has drafted a lot of HS SS's , there is a paucity of ready talent to plug in. Even if Brez/Cora think that Reyes can be the starter, who becomes the bench IF'er capable of finding SS position on the field. Dalbec has Casas and Devers days off, Someday in a galaxy far away when Grissom actually plays , does he go to second no matter ? Can Valdez play SS ? I would say Enmanuel is a little short of that skill set. Got to go to attend the real game tonight and see the on field, regular season Red Sox before any of you guys . I'll try to get us another win, but this SS thing is not good.

    G. Whitlock ( 1-0, 1.80 ERA ) up against Reid Detmers ( 1-0, 1`.80 ERA) . Game will end in a tie , book it. Detmers is a LH'er , probably Angels best pitcher. With Story out , we may see an odd lineup, especially if Dever's hand is sore. Dalbec to the rescue ? Of all the misplays last night, Rafaela's was the worst because it opened up flood that followed, . That non-chalance "watch me, I got this until I don't" attitude by a rookie probably frosted AC , a known very good manager, Max. Kutter's blow up and meltdown were tough to watch , but the team won anyway. Take tonight's game, win the serries and get ready to fly East tomorrow night. O'Neill is carrying the load nicely behind Duran's good start. Oh, Enmanuel Valdez with his .428 OPS leads the team in rbi's with 5 . Tyler's 4 HRs have only scored himself, so far.
