  1. One of the great abilities of a mercenary player is AVAILABILITY. Tyler O'Neill does not have that skill. But, I know, it's early and Tyler may yet have a miraculous cure in store for us, improving his availability. I will venture that Breslow will offer this guy at the trade deadline and no team will want to pick him up due to UNRELIABILITY
  2. 14K's out of 27 outs. . The bats went empty. Now the Red Sox need to take the final 2 games and move on top some real competition.
  3. Refresh my memory---Weissert is the answer to what question ? Sooner or later the White Sox were going to break their 14 game streak of losing. But why tonight. Crochet must have lost at least his 2 prior times out.
  4. It always starts with a walk and goes downhill from there. Red Sox squander the lead. They will need to hit their way out of this one. Criswell pitching is not highly effective.
  5. Does anyone honestly think that any team would take Cooper if offered ? Cannot wait for another position player to return so that dud can be DFA'ed .
  6. A bench full of Refsnyder types would be a good thing to have. He is a professional player.
  7. Chicago's alleged best pitcher cannot throw the ball to 1B on two successive throws. You wouldn't see, say Jon Lester make those mistakes.
  8. Is this the return of the '18 Red Sox ( pick your century) ? Incredible hitting against a weak oppo, but they all count. Houck getting support and should have the win , if not more. great for him, he has worked for it and deserves the accolades.
  9. Martin's situation is troubling for him and the team. We never see too much of what actually factors into a pro athlete's life especially during the season. Martin may have any number of issues from relationship, taxes, family health, etc that affects his emotions. I do not feel bad for him, it is what it is. He has more resources and support than most to deal with it . If he wants to see real anxiety , I'm sure it can be arranged. Try a young father, with 3 kids, one on the way, and gets a pink slip at work in his factory because AI machines are being installed to take his place.
  10. Question: Suppose O'Neill hit the ball, does he have to run on a "bad" knee ? Oh well, we'll never know.
  11. The actual payroll for Lux Tax is not especially relevant in terms of equivalent or potential talent on the field ( 26 man roster) . Jansen earns more than most of the active bullpen combined, as pointed out by several others. Devers is the only "Big Bucks" actually playing a position. Rafaela's and Bello's new extensions are cheap if they perform and movable if they are only average MLB'ers . Yoshida still has some usefulness if he can get on base, although at a stupid price. Giolito will suck the juice out of a new battery before he ever performs , wasting money. Story will need to get out of the way in a couple years unless he magically becomes a healthy wallbanger. Houck will likely cost the Sox some bucks going forward but good for him if he make an entire season with 30+ starts. The current roster is on the edge of a very young, possibly much better and certainly cheap team , among those active, who could have some success before reaching arb years. There is depth and young talent , mostly for 2026 currently in MiLB (Woo/Portland). For long time Sox fans the 8 year transition from the 2018 type squad to a 2026 ready to win team was never well expressed by ownership or FO . In fact , they concealed it , lying that the free beer was alway tomorrow's reward. Bloom was a foil, making fans think his intellect concealed a sneaky good 3 or 4 year plan. Breslow may be better or be another Yale educated idiot too. We'll see at the deadline where the team stands and what the fO does about it, and 2025/26.
  12. Injuries are both unpredictable and unintentional. However, it was noted by many that any success this season was reliant on minimal injuries, so the few legit MLB'ers on the roster could play the games. Since April 1, No Fools, the following have had either limited , 10 day Il's , 60 days or full seasons starting with Giolito, the moundsman . Giolito, Campbell, Mata (AAAA?), Devers ( knee/shoulder) , O'Neill, Yoshida, Story, Gruesome ( 2X),Abreu, Casas, Pivetta, Whitlock and possibly others. After all it is only a little over 1/3 into the season, long way to go. That is an atrocious record of minor and significant injuries to still be at 30-31. As in most dumpster fires, the lid will get hot enough and sag into the trash, igniting a bigger blaze. Major compliments to Duran, Refsnyder (?), Wong, McGuire, Valdez, Rafaela and most of the pitching staff for hanging in there. However, I do think the expiration date on Crawford is glowing yellow. The fact that Garrett Cooper is still on the 26 tells all. Not to mention Bobby D, a long time fan favorite with 9 lives, not to mention Jamie Westbrook, OBP king of the hill.
  13. The Sox keep losing games at Fenway, not exactly flowing like dirty water . The injury bug which needed to be avoided has been horrendous. These lineups are really bad, below AAAA Meanwhile, looks like Breslow got popped in the nose . Maybe the doctor was shutting down his sense of smell
  14. Tall Dlabec may have had a 5% chance to reach that HR,.....if he could have tracked its path a little better. First time starting in RF in Fenway does present some problems
  15. Westbrooks OBP is lights out. He has 1 official AB but been on base 3 times by 3 different ways
  16. Crawford sort of coming into his own recently. That was a layup center cut to Albies 17 runs ( E/UE) allowed in last 15 innings
  17. Hoping Crawford does not go ballistic here, beyond the tie run already in.
  18. I have been following all the thread on the main forum where Cooper , based on his history , has been certifiedf a piece of the puzzle. Have any of his advocates actually watched his AB's over the past few weeks. His pitch selection and pitch recognition make think he truly is clueless. Not a freaking chance that this guy can still hit at the MLB level. Beyond awful. Almost Gruesome like. I would feel better if Breslow Yank'ed him
  19. Cooper is a farcical sack of s*** who needs to go now !! Dalbec , on the other hand, is our guy for another 50 Ab's
  20. The vig on that other 50% of the debt will ruin him
  21. Ok, so that's 4 runs, what's next?
  22. That is a fair stretch, even for a tall 1Bman
  23. That is fairly incredible at #5-6-7-8 . If that group cumulates at 2 for 16-18 with 10 or less K's, I'll buy the coffee.
  24. When did you come to your senses on both counts ?
  25. Just happened to be watching the pregame Sunday, where a young girl got to toss the first pitch out to none other than Liam Hendricks. I was surprised to see a fat boy stuffed in Sox uniform doing the only squat he may have done in 3 months. This guy would need 3 months of serious conditioning to come back. The young girls throw was not great either.
