  1. I think it is worthwhile that Story does come back and play this year, if only 10-15 games. No question he is part of the 2025 mix at 2B/SS as a full time player. He is one of the RH bats that are needed and his fielding skills at MI eclipse the valiant efforts of Rafaela, Valdez, Gonzalez, DHam . And just wait until Grissom matures into a player, LOL
  2. You're right, Max, if not the one thing it's another. Don't leave the game up to the umpires , give them a center cut and they will still miss it 3/4's of the time.
  3. It tells me there is no kid from Low A to Worcester who can throw wildly at 98mpoh and scare the crap out of the opponents . Hill, to me, is the indictment of Breslow. AND ONCE AGAIN, CORA MAY BE MAKING A STATEMENT TO THE FO AND OWNERSHIP.
  4. When an MLB pitcher cannot summon a strike, when needed, even if hittable , it is inexcusable. Better to give up the Slam again than walk 3 guys in.
  5. Sox now on the lip of the cup of their longest losing streak of the year ( 5)
  6. Much agreed. I understand Kenly to hold the line but there is no one behind him . Martin showed last night that no pitcher in a Beantown uniform can be relied upon.
  7. Rich Hill is probably a good neighbor and a great guy in the clubhouse but it is an insult for him to be pitching in a game that was winnable until Jansen messed it up with a terrible, out of control non-effort
  8. I truly think his extreme swing will cause him to "age" more quickly than he should. Both shoulders sore at 28 years old ? His knees, hips and neck are the next to watch for in 2025. I will credit him for playing a full season so far, a feat which O'Neill, Grissom, Story and many others failed to achieve
  9. Jansen about to put this one out of reach ?? Or GIDP Alonso ??
  10. O'Neill redeems himself, now up to Yoshida to pull this Houdini act off. No bouncer to pitcher, 2B or 1 B, Yoshi
  11. Devers, 6 for last 50 per OBie. The indisputable math says that is a .120 BA, but I'm sure his OPS is much higher. Maybe not. The indomitable Devers has sadly fallen out of the .900 OPS club with this little slump. If it is the shoulder(s) , then STFD , If it isn't then that is really sad.
  12. Three rally killers , GIDP. Better if they just K'ed, You never know, the next guy might hit the ground ball out but with 2 gone, who cares ?
  13. Houck kept them close after surrendering the Grand Slam , LOL . Now can the BP do the same. ? There are plenty more rallyy killing DP's waiting, but can someone, ANYONE, hit a damn HR on this team ?
  14. Duran would have to get very hot, but he could catch Devers in HRs, RBI's , BA and OPS. Realistically, Jarren will be #2 to the $300+ million dollar man in some categories. Keep in mind that Tyler O'neill has 50 RBI's on 25 HR's. When the Sox have a team flight or dinner, does Tyler go SOLO ?
  15. All of a sudden Houck is the master and the Mets are his bitches. Sox better not lose this game by 1 run.
  16. At this point of the year, Wong has to have tired legs, Why push it with Crusher Valdez up ?
  17. One of the odd things about Sox starters and 1st innings is watching their pregame prep and warmup. It is actually very extensive under the direct eye of Bailey. If anything , they may be tired going out for the first.
  18. Definitely not . But Breslow had the same dilemma at the trade deadline. Could they keep winning, absolutely need a RH bat with power potential. By mid- August the tide had started shifting but too late.
  19. Games are always different when the bottom of the lineup contributes. Valdez, Sogard and Duran start it, with Devers and Abreu actually delivering the mail this time. 4-3. Winnable game if Houck can stay on track
  20. Houck shows there's nothing to starting pitching like being ready for the first inning . He shuts the Mets off in the 2nd. Good job, son
  21. Not that it would change results on the field daily, but consider the Sox from about 2003 on through 2018. There were some Sox lifers on most all of those teams, some won the WS, some finished last but there was a veteran presence. Look down the lineup and other than Devers , who has been around for awhile ? The mental toughness to get through a 162 game season is new to many of these young guys. I don't count Yoshida as a Sox veteran plus there is a language barrier. Rich Hill just arrived and it's a joke by Breslow anyway. Maybe Mickey Gaspar can shake the bat rack for them.
  22. The Sox have become unwatchable in this streak of win 1 , lose 2 or more. First inning says it all. Sox 3 hitters look like they play for the Little Sisters of the Poor, and Mets put a knife in Tanner's ribs with the slam. Couldn't get much worse right now.
  23. Just asking , but what is Breslow achieving by having Mickey Gaspers on the 28 . 0-12 for the SSS and career. I assume it is to allow Wong and D. Jansen to play in the same game and still have a spare C. Along similar lines, I appreciate and respect Rich Hill still competing, sort of, at the MLB level but honestly, is that the best option from the entire Red Sox system, DFA slag heap, and retired list ? Gaspers and Hill showed up before the roster expansion. Breslow will get a pass on this season, but between his bad luck with the now injured signings/pickups and Story /Grissom's season long misses , Craig really needs to have a championship off season. Especially if the Sox slip below the tide line and slide further backwards.
