  1. I think after the fantastic season the Sox had last year everyone needs to relax and cut them some slack. They will be fine. To quote Kevin Bacon in Animal House, "All is well".
  2. : For sure. They must not have had that view. The ump is looking at the tag, not the foot.
  3. A's are tough at home. Wouldn't be surprised if they have a way of stealing signs.
  4. Price hung a changeup to Davis but other than that, he is dealing. And he is the 5th starter!
  5. Eck and Obrien didn't think the replay was conclusive as to whether his foot was down on the plate. That can be the only explanation.
  6. At least the Trop doesn't have 40 acres of foul territory and its not 4 miles to the fences. Neither place draws fans.
  7. The ump missed it and there wasn't enough to overturn it. No luck for the Sox.
  8. What a throw. Probably safe but they might lose the challenge.
  9. The Oakland Coliseum is the worst baseball stadium in history.
  10. Trade Leon or Vazquez and keep Swihart. Offensive potential far and above the other two.
  11. It doesn't matter if its spring training or not: Workman sucks. Velasquez is average at best. Barnes is not a 9th inning guy. Poyner is AAA 1/2. Thornburg is nowhere near back to what he was for Milwaukee. Carson Smith is hurt and won't contribute for some time, if then. Wright is out 80 games. Braizer is hurt. Brewer is not the answer. Dave has got to pull a rabbit out of his hat to salvage this bullpen and make it respectable.
  12. I know its Spring Training, but right now my confidence level in the bullpen is a 3 out of 10. No way Barnes has the makeup to be a closer. Thornburg throws a straight, hittable ball. Braizer is hurt. I hope Dave figures it out.
  13. I like the low cost move of signing Carson Smith to a minor league deal. If he can get himself right, his stuff is nasty. Worth a flier. Especially since they gave up the great Wade Miley to get him.
  14. I think I would keep Hembree over Johnson because Hembree can get out lefties (when he is good) and he has a power arm. Johnson's stuff is average.
  15. Yep. Now they won't be able to sign Pomeranz.
  16. My opinion is that Johnson is a mediocre MLB pitcher with below average stuff, below average control and a horrendous pickoff move. He should only be used in an emergency. Not too valuable.
  17. Any teams giving out 10 year contracts will regret them in about 5. They hardly ever work. The closest one working was Manny and it was 8 years. Manny produced year after year. Pujols? Nope. I know Harper and Machado are younger but 10 years is a long time. Injuries, decline, being a jerk (Machado) can all make 10 year contracts risky.
  18. He is not going to get 14 million for two years from anybody. If thats what it takes, good bye and thank you for your services.
  19. Pearce grew up a Red Sox fan. Fenway Park is made for him. He has a chance to play a lot and maybe get another ring. He will re-sign with the Sox. He is the perfect platoon player and veteran leader they need.
  20. Exactly correct. I feel the same way. Buckner should have written the Brothers Osborne song, " It Ain't My Fault".
  21. The Sox were truly the best team in baseball all year, from start to finish. They dominated two, 100 win teams and the Dodgers. The 2018 Red Sox should go down as one of the all time best teams. What a fun year to watch and follow them.
  22. Sox were also up on Houston in 8th inning of Game 4 last year. With any luck, they could have tied the series and maybe won it in Game 5. That would have changed that season.
  23. Red Sox have won the AL East 3 straight years. That is a dynasty. The WS Title is icing on the cake. Meanwhile, the Yankees have won 1 title since...........I forget how long.
  24. It seems to me that Dave knew Eovaldi could pitch in the bullpen and I would guess he had already had conversations with Cora about using starters in relief in the playoffs. That made the bullpen much, much stronger. Plus, he had faith in Kimbrel, Kelly, Barnes and Braiser. DD knows more than you, I, the fans and the media. He went for it. He won it. He did it. Let the parade begin.
