  1. Trading Devers for Judge is reminiscent of 1947 when the Yankems and SOX were considering trading Williams for DiMaggio. Yawkey decided that Joe D wasn't enough and also wanted Berra included in the trade.
  2. How rare is that, MOON? As rare as the SOX farm system developing a starting pitcher.
  3. I meant to say 'left' not 'right.'
  4. When JBJ goes to left, more often than not it's a base hit.
  5. JD back to suffering his Tourettes of swinging at low outside pitches. He just can't control that tic unless he's at 451 Fahrenheit.
  6. I'm convinced that anyone who continues to dis Devers is nothing more than a troll.
  7. Years ago the St Louis Blues hockey team had HULL and OATES.
  8. Honestly, it's hard to evaluate a pitcher's performance against such a poor hitting team. But, otoh, he did show great command of his pitches tonight.
  9. Yup; he had everything working. Do you still want him to close? Just asking.
  10. If the SOX get a HAUL, it has to include OATES.
  11. Btw, after the 2006 regular season there were 3 division leaders that had 96, 97, and 97 wins.
  12. Would you state that a team that finishes the season 5 games over .500 is a championship caliber team? Probably not and you would have been wrong.
  13. Any team that makes the PO's has a chance of winning it all. Many times in baseball history the best teams during the regular season don't win it all.
  14. I do remember that in 2006 the Cards finished the season only 5 games above .500 and ended up winning the WS. So, who knows.
  15. I thought you answered your own question.
  16. Right now Greene hasn't mastered enough variety to be an effective starter, but right now, on a better team, he definitely has closer stuff.
  17. You can teach a young pitcher how to throw a change-up, a slider, and a curve. You can't teach him how to throw 101mph.
  18. I'd still trade for the guy. I'd give the Reds the SOX best two pitching prospects for him.I doubt the Reds would be interested.
  19. Greene must have notified Dugo by his delivery that a change-up was coming. A good change-up is, imho, the toughest pitch to master.
  20. Hold onto that question until after the west coast swing.
  21. Unless that NL pitcher was Mad Bumgarner.
  22. This 22 year old Greene was the #2 overall pick in the 2017 draft. This is his 1st major league season. He may be coming into his own tonight.
  23. If MLB keeps a stat of which batter leads the league in being behind the count, it has to be Dalbec this season.
  24. When I played HS ball, I could never hit a major league pop-up.
  25. Looks like the Reds are in a hurry to get to the airport.
