A team, as the SOX have proven many times, can't compete with mediocre pitching and defense. Now that the SOX have added mediocre hitting into the mix this may be the worst season we'll endure in a very, very long time.
The SOX are 15th currently in payroll at 177 million and 17% of that is the wasted money they're paying Sale.
The Yankems' payroll is 100 million more than the SOX.
I've got no problem blaming Bloom and/or Cora, but the real blame should be directed at JH. He's the one who controls the money and he's the one who decided to transform the SOX into a small market team. Hiring Bloom should have been the 1st hint.
Fortunately the SOX got to play the Tigers early this season or the SOX record would be even worse.
Tigers and A's may be the only AL teams worse than the SOX.
