  1. P.S. your notion is 100% absurd. All the money Bloom had cleared out was expiring contracts or high-arb guys. There isn't one example where they've signed a guy of Dever's caliber and then turned around and traded him immediately within less than 1 year. The closest I can come to that is Agon, which is a different era, different president, and different gm. I get Bloom has done much to welcome in critique, and I get that some fans are more upset than others. But if you're going to take that hate and just make nonsensical arguments based on nothing then others are going to call you out on it. So I'll ask you again, shall we bet on this?
  2. I the coaching needs more of the share pie, or at least Henry indirectly for not doing more to fix it. We are on about two decades of bad returns and almost ZERO ability to draft and develop pitchers.
  3. - So, you're not willing to bet on it.
  4. Especially seeing how Bloom let go every back up SS on the 40 man this off-season too. At least those guys can field the position. Maybe Bobby can prove he can be an emergency back up middle infielder but that’s it. If he’s playing every day for 2-4 weeks then this team is either garbage or he really starts raking. I suppose it wouldn’t be the weirdest thing to ever happen if both came to pass.
  5. I don’t know wanna bet on it? I’d be willing to be a lot he’s not on any other teams 40 man outside of Boston come opening day 2024
  6. Exactly, because if you have a healthy Story at 2nd, and Andrus at SS, you just put Kike in CF.
  7. At the time, wasn’t Downs considered the better prospect and Graterol was slatted for the pen? In a better world, if you hit on Downs he fits into this roster perfect right now. I think I was bothered by the outcome more than the return. I think the sum adds up to less than the parts when it comes to Blooms to datezz
  8. To be transparent Andrus is off to a s*** start. But he can field the position better than Kike, Dalbec, would keep Kike in CF and even if you expect regression this season he's likely to hit much better than his horrid start.
  9. I would just like the record to state that I advocated for a SS all offseason. First the extension of Bogaets, then one of the other big 4, and then I would have settled for Andrus. The crazy thing is, the team has the budget to have signed Elvis and still be under the cap. Not a good look right now.
  10. Why am I starting to think you two are playing the same CERA game here??? lol
  11. Certainly, the Red Sox wouldn't mismanage their 40 man roster at all.
  12. I mean to be fair, developing position players seem to be the only thing relatively constant in Boston for the past two decades. I'm sure they will help him figure it out.
  13. Supposedly his defense is not very good at all there, they are talking about moving him to the outfield. He got off to a nice start with the bat though, but he did so last year and then was pretty pedestrian most of the season. Still, can he be much worse defensively than Kike and Dalbec? maybe we break even there and Kike moving back to CF improves the outfield defense. But Dalbec was off to a decent start too, and if he's figured something out he can replace the RHH power that Duval gave us. Not that he can replicate his last two weeks, but it would balance the lineup if he hits. The real irony here is it has me anticipating the return of Mondesi, a guy who seems to be destined for the DL several times a year.
  14. How many games did they play going into Tampa? I don't think it's fair to be too judgemental either way at this point. Yes, based on our personalities the cup will be half full or half empty. But the season is still in it's infancy.
  15. Yeah, I can get on board with this. I have concerns with the pitching, but I also see some good there and I have a lot of faith they can be better and good this year. Yes, a lot can go wrong there too if they get the injury bug but I think it could be an asset. But I'm not sure there's much hope for this defense.
  16. No it's not. If that's your bar, Rafaela could do that now. But he should still be developing and I expect Kike to hit much better than .083. With Duvall out and the defense HORRIBLE, I wouldn't mind seeing Kike go back to CF and the Sox get someone who can field SS at SS.
  17. I think it's a bad assumption either way. I wouldn't be surprised either way. If all it is, is a broken bone then it's not that bad of an assumption. Bones heal, but things get more complicated when tendons and ligements are involved or a bone is shattered. If it's just a small break, which the timeline they've provided eludes too, it might not be that bad and he should be making a full recovery and through a rehab assignment in just a couple months.
  18. I'll admit an injury to the same wrist is not a good look. But not all injuries are created equal. YOu can break a bone, where 1 CM to the right could have done more extensive soft tissue damage. If it's JUST a broken bone, he should come back fine in 2 months. The reality is we just don't know. It's a bad assumption to make either way
  19. You completely missed my point, I'm not the best at conveying mine so that's on me and let me reiterate. I'm not disagreeing with you at all, just merely pointing out that all teams don't have a top prospect in the high minors at every position. Taking one position and saying we don't have just top prospects at that position AND in the high minors ready to take over is not an indictment on a team's system. The Sox should have known this and done better to build depth at that position, to be fair that wasn't helped by a lot of injuries. Still it's not a good look.
  20. I'm not willing to be this is going to be a good team, but I will be willing to be in a few months from now if they're not good.....it won't be because of the offense. You can book that.
  21. Well the Sox have one of the top prospects in all of the baseball playing SS, just because they don't have a guy at a specific position MLB-ready doesn't mean the farm is weak. Are the supposed to have an MLB ready top prospects at every position in AAA. No one even has anything close to that.
  22. Is that your opinion as a doctor that has seen his medicals?
  23. Well you're making my point. It's been a long time since the Sox have had a bad offense, they've always scored runs. Even when they had the 4th worse record in baseball in 2020 they were still 11th in runs scored. In recent years their struggles have been with some combination of Defense, starting pitching, and relief pitching. As you pointed out a few guys have carried the offense, so what, in a month from now those guys can regress back to the mean, but that's a two-way street. Guys like Casas, Kike, Turner, and Arroyo. Also, we might be surprised by what Mondesi and Story contribute too. By the end of a 162 games season, it's been a long time since the offense has really been a big problem. So, I'll revert back to my point. I'm not concerned about the offense. Now the defense scares me, and the pitching still has me very skeptical as well.
  24. We are 7th in MLB in runs scored. Even last year we were 9th, 5th the year before, and even 11th in all of MLB during 2020 when we were arguably the worse team in baseball. The lineup could use some upgrades, but it's obvious not TOO thin.
  25. after 11 games, a day ago we had a winning record.
