    He started 34 games last year. The most in MLB . Pitched over 200 innings.

    Keuchel is 31 . Not a kid , but hardly washed up . His ERAs the last two years were , 2.90 and 3 .74 . Not saying he is an ace , but he is a heckuva lot better than many of the rag arms teams are running out there . Billionaires too cheap to spend to improve their team . No wonder fans are getting disgusted.

    The Yankees need him . Their starting pitching is shaky . The reason they haven't signed Keuchel is the same reason the other teams haven't , too cheap to spend the money.

    There are so many beatable teams in the league , that the record almost certainly will improve. My concern is ; can we beat the Yankees ? We are trailing them despite all of their injuries. Can we match up when they get healthy? The two games we lost in New York were not a lot of fun .

    The last 8 games have been against Oakland , Chicago and Baltimore. Two last place teams and one fourth place team.

    It is high time this team shaped up and started playing better baseball . We are approaching 25 % of the season having been completed , and we are still treading water , two games under .500 . This despite having played a pretty soft schedule. No excuses .

    Another garbage team . If you thought the ChiSox were bad , check out the Orioles . This is a big problem for MLB . Teams that stink and won't spend money to improve are hurting the sport . And there are too many of them . Sox need to sweep these stiffs .

    That's baseball . It's not easy . Everyone has their ups and downs . Their slumps . Bradley more so than most . Look at his career numbers . That will give you a better idea of his ability . In the end , he will come pretty close to that .

    I liked Ellsbury. He was an exciting player to watch . Always hustled and played hard and aggressively. I thought he should have been MVP in 2011 . Unfortunately, he was injury prone and that has only gotten worse as he gets older . But JBJ is our centerfielder now . Why not support him ? I don't get the vitriol.

    The health of our starting rotation has been , and will continue to be , a concern . Only Porcello can be considered durable .

    People have their favorite players . They will defend their favorites, root for them , hype them and find stats that support their feelings . And that's okay . It's human nature . Objectivity is not required, nor is it expected. We are fans ...............However , what does bother me a bit is when fans develop and display an obvious dislike , almost bordering on contempt and hatred , for some players on the team . I guess that is human nature also , but not a very good side of it .

    The ninth is high leverage in a close game . Do you want your closer warming up in the seventh, just in case the pitcher gets in a big jam ? Is that a good policy ? Are you going to do that all the time ? I can see doing it occasionally, but that is all .

    Not me . I always try to be objective. The voice of reason , if you will . Probably too old school , but reasonable nonetheless.

    Dewey , the answer to that is that you need more than one quality arm in the pen . You have to trust your set up guys too . If you can't trust them in the 7th , how are you going to trust them in the ninth ? As far as the scenario where you bring a guy in with the bases loaded , no outs and the best hitters coming up , come on . Give me a break . Are you going to base your strategy on that improbable situation?

    Probably. Bradley no doubt brings more to the table than Pearce . Pearce is certainly more expendable.

    Career numbers are the best ( not the only , but the best ) judge of a player's worth . On here they are most often used when it supports one's opinion. Otherwise, they are ignored or discredited. Bradley is what his career numbers say he is . No more , no less .

    Ghost , Many on here do not pull for a player who is gone . They want him to fail . They want to justify their opinion. Swihart is gone , but he will continue to be kicked .

    There really is no other direction to go right now . They don't want to pay the money it would cost to promote Castillo . A guy like Kemp could be available on the cheap . Do you want to do that ? Bradley will almost certainly have a hot streak at the plate at some point because that is his history. Why not just wait for it ? There is no good alternative.

    Thornburg and Brewer pitch mostly in games that are already pretty much won or lost . There have been quite a few of those so far . I don't entirely trust Brasier yet . Barnes looks good . He doesn't seem to throw lot of strikes , but is able to get hitters to chase . Hopefully, it stays that way . Workman is the X factor. He has been more effective than he has ever been . Can that continue ?
