  1. I know there is no such thing as momentum, but the Sox seem to have some now . The toothless Tigers should be relatively easy .
  2. As predicted , a sweep of the overrated Rays .
  3. I don't know what he was expecting. He did say that Chavis wasn't ready just before he was promoted. But Chavis started at second base today against a right hander . Where was Lin ?
  4. Boonie is still a dumb dumb . He sees something in Green that is not there . If he brings in Britton to pitch the eighth , the Yankees win easy without the drama . I do give the Yankees credit for being where they are despite being absolutely decimated by injuries.
  5. I like you . I don't love you .
  6. I just think that it is D.D. 's job to set the roster , and Cora's job to manage the roster . I don't want Cora deciding who should be called up or who should be demoted , traded or DFA'd . I don't want D.D. deciding who should play and where in the order they should hit . The job descriptions should be well defined . When there is disconnect it leads to problems. And it doesn't look good when the manager says that a guy is not ready , and two days later he is starting.
  7. At times , there seems to be a bit of disconnect between Cora and the front office.
  8. One last parting shot at Swihart as he exits .
  9. A sweep is doable and even probable. The Rays are simply not that good . They have benefited from a relatively weak early season schedule . A dose of reality is coming for them . When all is said and done , they are still a third place team . The A.L. East will be a battle between the Sox and Yanks .
  10. I would vote in favor of taking the bad with the good and keeping JBJ . However , I might be okay with trading him if it would finally put an end to these repetitive and redundant threads .
  11. Let's hope it's not too lengthy an absence . Eovaldi was , and still is , a risky signing . It was based on the relatively small sample size of his post season heroics and certainly not on his career track record of performance and of health .
  12. My point is that they are not good enough to beat the Sox and Yanks . They are destined to finish third in the A.L. East . They have overachieved so far this season . The talent level is not good enough to sustain it . It is a long season . The market correction is already underway . They now have a three game losing streak . Tomorrow will make it four .
  13. Keep it simple. Just go by seasons . The last five years : 2018 - Finished 18 games out . 2017 - 13 games out. 2016 - 25 games out . 2015 - 13 games out . 2014 - 19 games out . This year will be more of the same . They don't have enough talent .
  14. You are again cherry picking sample sizes to make a point . Everyone likes a nice Cinderella story . The reality is that the Rays do not have the talent or the resources to outlast the Red Sox and Yankees .
  15. That certainly helps them , but not enough to compete with the top teams . Look at last year . 18 games behind Boston. 10 behind New York for the wild card . 7 behind Oakland for the second wild card . And that was a great year for them. Good start this year , but the market correction is imminent.
  16. The Sox won 108. The Yankees won 100 . The Astros won 103 . Even Oakland won 97 . All of the win totals were somewhat inflated due to the abundance of tanking trash in the American League. The Rays only hope for the post season is through the hokey gimmick known as the second wid card .
  17. I think they have been overachieving. Look at the roster . They don't compare with the top teams .
  18. The Rays are headed for a market correction. In the end , they are a third place team . They simply don't have the talent level of the Red Sox and Yankees . Looking for a sweep this weekend to get things rolling .
  19. The Rays are overachieving to some extent . Looking at their lineup, there is no reason the Sox can't beat them .
  20. Reportedly, it is just a minor setback . So let's not be too quick to rule him out.
  21. Maybe the next time the boys celebrate a win with a fog machine and strobe lights in the clubhouse, they should try a little harder to beat a bunch of jabronis like the Royals the next night .
  22. Admittedly, I don't follow the game as closely as I once did . I honestly never heard of this jabroni.
  23. Sox signed another ham and egger , lefty reliever named Jeremy Bleich . Wednesday night the situation called for a lefty to pitch to Gardner in the 7th , but we didn't have one . Cora went with the trendy fad of using your closer in the " high leverage " situation. It backfired when Brasier served up an 0 - 2 meatball to Gardner . Is Jeremy Bleich the answer ? Stay tuned .
