  1. You got to find something, right? Totally disagree with you that Hosmer is just a 1 year wonder. Anyway KC sees him as more an important piece in their line-up than Moustakas, they will resign him, and let Moustakas walk. At least that's what their GM is saying. Dayton Moore. Hosmer will probably be an over-pay. That's the problem, because you will be in a bidding war with KC.
  2. I agree with that, Hosmer is going to cost a lot. I'd rather look into Abreu for 1st, leave a 20 year old kid at his natural position, since he has been playing organize baseball, give him a chance. And go from there. Like to add Martinez too. You could have something like this. Martinez Abreu Hanley Devers. That's 4 potential 30+HRS guys. With good average too. That's what I would like to see, providing we keep Benni.
  3. Here's Hosmer's numbers, I don't see one year wonder here. You decide. 3 Gold Gloves, even though many don't go by that. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hosmeer01.shtml Also I like BA, its simple way of telling someone that you put the bat on the ball, and hit it fair to get on base.
  4. 25 million for a career .250 hitter. Don't you think that's a overpay. And OK 3rd baseman, nothing special.
  5. Jim Hickey interviewed for Pitching Coach for Sox, I heard. Would love to get him.
  6. Tanaka is going to be interesting for sure, does he walk away from 67 million guaranteed.
  7. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/259274274/red-sox-reportedly-offer-contract-to-alex-cora/
  8. Back to the Yanks, this is how I see them going forward. They skip on Stanton, don't want to give up Prospects no more. Reason, they can trim pay-roll, and go after the big fish they really want, Harper in a year. All it will cost is 10 Draft spots. This year they go hard after Otani. That's about it, except maybe resigning CC. Might trade Betances, for something. I wouldn't his stock down now. If he bounces back, see what is going on at Deadline, Prospects maybe again, using Relievers, too boost their farm was smart. Teams get desperate at the Deadline. Our Sox better get this done within 2 years, reason... Pitching. The Yanks are loaded in the Farm all the way down to their A Teams in the Minors. They have restocked their Farms with quality young arms. That could potentially give us problems for years. By doing this they will save tons of money. Next year going to be very interesting year between the Sox and Yanks.
  9. Weird how things flipped around, Theo with us, and Maddon and Friedman with Tampa, now Theo and Maddon together and Friedman with the Dodgers. Don't underestimate Friedman as a GM. He built a strong team too in LA. He has money now, and good evaluator too.
  10. Not yet according to Nick Carfardo and Sean McAdam. You could right too. Not disagreeing with you.
  11. Cora or the Sox cant do nothing. Wouldn't surprise me if Nationals jump in on Cora. Nothing is set in stone yet. Keep an eye on if Nationals seek permission to speak to Cora.
  12. I never understand why Dan Duquette gets left out on any GM talk here. Manny, Pedro, Varitek, Lowe, Damon, Wakefield, Youkilis, were all Duquette moves.
  13. Chris Bosio and Dave Righetti both available as Pitching Coaches.
  14. Astros have to hit in those situations.
  15. Old days yes, today nope. I'll take a Sanchez, deficiencies, on Defense and take his Offense. And really there is not going to be a great drop-off either. Otherwise they would never give him such important position. But the difference is how many games won on Offense. You would rather have Sanchez over Vazquez yes? Also a Veteran Pitching staff, helps a lot. Next year will tell me a lot about Vazquez if he is #1 Catcher. I'll be able to gage him better.
  16. Dodgers are going to be around awhile, that's a very young team.
  17. I do. There is many Catchers in the Minors who are good Defensively. Difference is Offense. Teams will take the Offensive Catchers over just a Defensive one almost all the time. Tonight good example, McCann, even Sanchez, you see those Offensive Numbers they will have extreme patience with a Catchers Defense.
  18. That's why a guy like Bob Stanley is valuable. Kelly was a Starter his whole career, has a rubber arm, he should be used more for innings. 1 time through the order, is my philosophy with guys who were Starters, but have moved into BP role. Providing their stuff is good that day. That's why Managers who actually watch the games, get a feel for their Pitchers is important. Most of the time you can see if a Pitcher has it that day or not.
  19. Want to see Vazquez a second season on Offense. Way too short of a sample for me before I deem him a Offensive threat, in the Majors. His high in the Minors for HRS was 18, all the way back in 2011, never hit Double digits again. 27 years old now, like to see more power for Fenway. Career .266 Minor Leaguer, if he hits this in the Majors, I will be happy. But I will wait on this next season.
  20. Love 7th games. Yanks knocked off Cleveland, and now brought this to 7th game, against tough team, who really had no problem with us, I'll go with the Vet Sabathia and Yanks BP. One last thing, Judge hits HRS in bunches, he has hit them in this series, and 1 last night, I predict, he hits one tonight.
  21. Good point KC really didn't have a #1 that year in a way, and year before I believe. You can Manage it, if BP has quality arms.
  22. Sox had 2 hitting Coaches this year. That I don't like. Too much information is not good either. Chili didn't work with Bogaerts, another guy did. Since he took his advice, he's been on the downswing. Hope he leaves. Turned Bogaerts into a slap hitter, looked terrible. While everybody was going for launch angle, he was hitting down on the ball. Bogaerts is losing a lot of money taking his advice. Teams want Power if they are going to pay big in FA.
  23. This ^^^^^^ This is what I was hinting at, you only won division by 2 games this season, the quality of a #6 starter and a #1 will be huge. Missing those starts could be the difference in making the Post-Season. Not counting wear and tear on Bullpen. 5 man rotation is already watering down the talent in Starters. Just have to see when a Starter needs to skip a Start, or even maybe 2, at right times in season. Blowouts both ways, get them out. Big problem is you don't have the quality of Starters in the Minors to give them a cup of coffee. 1 or 2 Starts by sat 2 Minor Leaguers, with a good lead in division, would be ideal.
  24. How many starts would you think your #1 would miss in a season?
  25. Agree, I think Andujar will be your starter at 3rd.
