At this point I focus on games lost. We r 2 games behind Toronto Number of games played is varies from team to team. If you are not losing then in theory you are not losing ground.

Yanks are down 2-8 vs Atlanta. Miami winning 4-1 over Houston. Seattle is losing 0-3. LAA is losing 0-5. All good news for the Sox.

This has been a good year from my perspective with one or two exceptions. Emergence of Duran Casas Wong and Yoshida gets us closer to the assembling the core group and chasing titles. I am not 100% sold on Verdugo but Rafaela waits in the wings as a replacement in the OF. Our bullpen looks to be in capable hands for 2024 and hopefully some of our young guns will replace Martin and Jansen in 2025. Bello and Crawford appears to be keepers. Who knows what Pivetta will become. Tons of good news. Last 2 years will be quickly forgotten with a title in a near future.

Ding Ding Ding. We have a winner. Over managing? I never understood resting a player after a multiple hit games. I wouldn't want to come out when I'm swinging a hot bat. Screw 'scheduled' day off.

That was crazy. The batter before hit it out but was snatched by the CF for Seattle. Then the next guy hits a HR. That should have been the game winner. Seattle lost 5-3 so good for us.

Looks like Bello will need an extra day's rest so Houck maybe inserted if we have several games with no days off. He's getting closer to last year's innings pitched. They will watch him closely.

We have not used an opener in 7 games... Our rotation should be going forward starting Tuesday Pivetta Paxton Sale Bello Crawford I heard Cora say they are stretching out Houck. We have Jansen, Martin, Winckowski, Schreiber, Whitlock, Bernardino, Houck, Murphy and Llovera in the pen? Walter may still be in the mix. Not sure if we could have done much better at the trade deadline.

Or, we can simply sign Ohtani for 10 year $650M and sign a second starter at $15M....lol Go with the outfield of Yoshida, Duran and Rafaela and Ohtani as DH. We gain two starting pitchers. Trade Verdugo and save $6M. Maybe Pivetta too. Quality over quantity.

Jansen and Martin will come off the payroll after 2024, $23.5M. Maybe Houck and Whitlock can replace them at better price. ($4.8 for Whitlock) I think Sale's 2025 option will be picked up assuming he is healthy, it's only $20M and $5M is deferred. Healthy Sale at $15M seems reasonable to me.

I will go along with Whitlock and Houck in the pen. Whitlock seems too frail to pitch 170 innings and maybe not as successful if starting. But the two would really strengthen our pen.

I am also done ranting about Whitlock starting. Go in peace. Bullpen seems more fitting for him and his arm. Our pen all the sudden looks much stronger for next year. Starters, Starters, and Starters, please John Henry.

The roster is all set up for the playoff chase....that became very clear when the trading deadline past. There's really not much more Bloom can do now. We now wait only on Houck's return. I would think Rafaela would help with his defense and speed but who drops if he get the call?

Glad to see Cora take out Crawford and not worry about giving him a chance at a 'win'. They are all must games now and managed as such.

Cubs, White Sox and the Reds games are the games blacked out on my MLB subscriptions. Fox games are on MLB tv. Not ESPN. Not Peacock. Screw the Friday night Apple TV games. Ugh. I'm okay with MLB raising my fee to cover the cost of black out games, within reason of course.

During 2022, I did chuckled at what the Rangers did. Signed Seager to 10 year, $325M deal and Semien to a 7 year, $175M deal. The team did not look much better to me. At least they were not on my radar. But the owner tried. Ranger then followed those signings with adding a slew of quality starting pitchers. It was a two year plan now looking back. I hope we are at year one of two year 'go for it' plan. Our core group is emerging position wise. It's time to do whatever to add starting pitchers. Trade some farmhands if you have to. Sign some free agents. We have in the pen, possibly, Whitlock, Houck, Schreiber, Winckowski, Pivetta, Martin, Janssen, Crawford, Bernadino, etc. Couple of them might start. If we don't go for it in 2024, I'll be very disappointed.
