  1. I realize Bernardino had AAA option but I didn't see how HIS production warranted his demotion, especially in comparison to Rodriquez. Someone was in Joely's corner.
  2. OPS by positions in AL 1st Catcher 1st Left Field 2nd Right Field 4th 1B 8th DH 9th SS 13th 2B 14th 3B 14th CF
  3. Mr. Rodriguez saga Signed for $1.5M in 2023 with club option for $4.25M in 2024. The Sox DECLINED the option, paying him $500K in the process. Then the Sox signs him for $2M to pitch in 2024. In both 2023 and 2024, he appeared in 11 games, pitching 11 innings both year and giving up 8 earned runs both year. ERA of identical 6.55. Who in the hell thought it was a good idea to pick him up when you had Bernardino? Again, we sure piss away money. Bottom line? I think it works out to about $200K per inning?
  4. Run differential is another meaningless stat. Its skewed by our most recent win. It should be capped at +/- 9.
  5. Yep..staff is not perfect. Everyone saw it but the staff. Ugh
  6. Can we quit talking about Giolito and Story? They won't be back this year. It'a annoying. They are not part of this group rhis year.
  7. Kelly's outing last night was encouraging. Our pitching has been scary good. I just hope the bottom doesn't fall out.
  8. Just happy to see Abreu thriving in right field. Verdugo in his 6th year is making $8.7M. We have Abreu for six years. I will say it. He will be in discussion for Rookie of the Year.
  9. So we are down to Kutter and Houck as starters not having missed a turn. Also none on injured reserve has returned. Ugh.
  10. For the second straight game, Ceddanne Rafaela — and not Jarren Duran — is leading off for the Red Sox. He’s at shortstop with Bobby Dalbec at first base and Pablo Reyes playing third. Duran is the center fielder. I really didn't understand why Dalbec was on 3rd and Reyes on 1st the last game. I do think size matters a little bit playing 1st base.
  11. let's hope that 'inflation' will outrun his contract....lol (jk)
  12. We're big market club and budget should be near the tax line.... HOWEVER, we've done very poorly lately with significant amount of the money sitting on the sidelines or having maybe too many non productive contracts. How to fix it? THAT, is above my pay grade. Sale, Story and Giolito.....not to mention what is beginning to look really bad for the Yoshida contract. Hopefully Breslow can turn this around.
  13. Kike trade was right out of the movie Moneyball. Cora kept playing him. GM finally traded him so Cora wouldn't be tempted to play Kike at short. Well that's my story.
  14. I don't see what the staff sees in Joely.....okay so he was injured last year. What's the excuse this year? Bernardino got screwed.
  15. I agree. It's time to give someone else a chance. This is good time to do it. Maybe even bringing up a third base man and experiment Devers at 1B. I have a feeling Casa will be out for extended period. His injury hinders his swing. He won't return for couple of months I predict.
  16. Abreu has raised his OPS to very respectable .830. Cora was right. He needed more at bats and unfortunately it came via Story being out for the season. We can thank Houston for exchanging a rental in the form of Vazquez, who incidentally did not start for them. It was more of a depth addition for Houston. The Twins gave Vaz a 3-year $30M contract. Vaz had .598 OPS last year in 102 games and he's now hitting .380 OPS. We dodged the bullet. Hopefully we'll make a decisive move on trade deadline this year. I don't see us going anywhere. We'll have some tradeable pieces.
  17. I think we have individual coice to decide everythat happened in 2020. For me 60 games didn't do it. If one thinks 2020 was mire legit than 2023 then maybe we should cut back on number of regular season games.
  18. This year was all about discovery. To see who belongs in majors. Maybe the jury is still out on Whitlock but we at least have 3 young guns going forward in Bello Kutter and Houck. Position wise it appears Duran Abreu and Rafaela are keepers. For a time being we will have to carry Rafaela offensively. So Wong Casas Rafaela Devers Duran and Abreu should play unless someone else better shows up. I look forward to adding Grissom to the 'keepers' category. We need more depth, quality depth that is.
  19. Another no run 6 IP by a starter. Nice!
  20. Our starting pitching has been really good. Their 7-3 record is only topped by Royals' 8-3. The group has pitched 104 innings, 4th highest in the AL. The starters lead the AL in ERA at 1.82, even accounting for unearned runs, they've only given up 27 runs, 1st in AL. Their .99 WHIP and .203 BA against also tops the AL for starters. Pretty incredible really.
  21. Sox have done horrible job valuing talent. It's more that we have allocated $180M to wrong players than not spending. Had we spent wisely, we'd have more money available for top talent such as Betts.
  22. It's 4/19 and we're looking under every rock to fill out the roster....I guess it's better than doing nothing. My head is spinning......
  23. Moving Rafaela to short along with Devers and Grissom taking the field off the 'injured' status should stabilize our infield. We have too many moving parts right now with Devers/Dalbec/Reyes (3B/SS/2B)/Hamilton/Valdez (2B/SS).....unreal.
  24. We have too many 'if's' in the infield. Physical mistakes on top of mental lapses have killed us.
