Moon You can simply ignore Clay Buchholtz. His option is not vested. There is no f***ing way he'll be on Sox roster for 2017. At best, his skinny ass will be traded.

I didn't mean to dismiss Ortiz....both his on field and what he brings to the team. I believe he had much to do with the success of our young players. Its truly laughable to think Hanley can step into his role. I don't think anyone thinks that. What I was getting at was that there appears to be some power bats available in FA market for 2017. But you can hear crickets when it comes to starting pitching in FA market. I don't write coherently most of the time. Just a fan.

I have no facts to back it up but to me Sox have lost more 50/50 balls than the opponent, to use a basketball term. What happened to Rangers last night has been happening to us. Despite that we're in the thick of pennant race. We need for Clay and E Rod to step up to the plate. Lets exhaust all internal options, see what Kelly can do out of bullpen. I would like to trade for the Atlanta RP but not the starter. A power pitcher can survive in AL East....see Kimbrel. All these guys whine and bitch about not getting to start but hey why don't you do something about it? You know, have a better command of your pitches and quit walking .220 hitters. I'm not motivated by this being Ortiz' last year to make a trade. We can sign a FA to replace Big Papi.

It's pretty brutal when Hanigan is paired with Wright. He has as much trouble catching it as hitters have hitting it....

There's no point in adding more mediocrity to our starting pitching staff. That will be another contract we'll be stuck with. Are we in agreement that in a wild card playoff game, we'd start Steven Wright, especially against Toronto/Baltimore?

Isn't this what we want? C Swihart 1B Shaw 2B Pedy SS Xander 3B Moncada LF Benintendi CF Bradley RF Betts Sign a big bat as DH and use Hanley to stall while Moncada/Benintendi develops. If Travis > Shaw, than Shaw becomes a valuable bench player. He'll keep Devers and see if his power develops. All kinds of flexibility exists....

Are we all in agreement that Benintendi and Moncada are Sox top two prospects? Devers and Espinoza are not as close to reaching Fenway. Would Atlanta do a deal with only one of the two of former along with other top 10 prospects? Assuming Moncada can play LF, who has higher ceiling? Our offense has been a pleasant surprise but without Wright, are we not looking at third straight last place finish? Our pitching staff is in shambles and that's after acquiring Price and Kimbrel.

Boston’s other touted minor leaguer, Andrew Benintendi, went 2 for 5 with an RBI double. Benintendi, who got off to a slow start when he arrived a month ago, is batting .366 (15 for 41) in his last 10 games, with three home runs, five doubles and 11 RBI...... Can we see a Benintendi/Young platoon in August?
