  1. Much talk about having both Early and Tolle in Worcester but I'm glad it's turned out this way. Suarez is the real deal. He is a pitcher. Same goes for Sonny Gray. This team needs a Contreras clone to be the DH. We need an upgrade at 3B and a better shortstop. We're not that far away. It sucks to have the two contracts for another year.
  2. Starter ERA 12th in AL Bullpen ERA 3rd in AL Tampa Bay leads the ML in starter ERA 3.03 9-1 in one run games, 25-5 when they score 4 runs Not pitching Bello would help. Just play the numbers. Crossing fingers is not a strategy. Combined 2.72 ERA for Tolle (2.05), Suarez (2.44), Gray (2.93) and Early (3.21).
  3. Any chance we can stash away Campbell's salary off the books? What needs to happen?
  4. Well we let a good one get away in Bregman.
  5. That's surprising. Growing up in the 60's, defense up the middle, catcher, 2B, SS, CF. Power in LF, 1B, 3B and maybe RF.
  6. I always forget about his contract. Most definitely, he will have 5 years counting his option.
  7. Yes...I just put his name down because right now he has 6 years. I certainly hope we can do better. Defense is important but 3B is also a hitting position.
  8. Core Players Crochet 5 yrs starting 2027 Anthony 7 yrs Rafaela 5 yrs Abreu 3 yrs Narvaez 4 yrs Durbin 5 yrs Mayer 5 yrs Early/Tolle 5 yrs Everyone else can be traded, I hope Breslow learned something. Yes, we still need power.
  9. Maybe the organization should rethink about extending young players early. Christian Campbell, now Bello. I still do like Rafaela extension. Crochet was a no brainer. We got him with free agency pending. I like what Breslow is doing with drafting young starting pitchers. We should model after Tampa Bay with exception of occasional big contracts for proven talent. Schwarber comes to mind.
  10. They make combined $41M. They can charter a plane at the least.
  11. So What? Red Sox lineup has no Trevor Story, no Masataka Yoshida vs. tough righty Friday night.
  12. Quite honestly I like to see both Story and Yoshida DFA. Just ear the money and give playing time to our young players.
  13. I can admit that I bail on Red Sox from time to time but I still look for something I can enjoy. This year it's our 3 rookie starting pitchers. I also think Gray and Suarez will be fine as long as they stay healthy. I am very down on Whitlock and Bello right now and Anthony too for his slow start. I can't wait until 2028 not to see Story and Yoshida.
  14. Yep. I go to Cot's all the time and see what worthless contracts are still out there. (two big ones come off after 2027) Happy not to see every box filled with big numbers for Devers.
  15. Just as a side, I enjoy reading about the Sox now that Cora is gone. I want managers in the background. Don't try to be the star. I really didn't care what Cora had to say. Same old, same old. I've heard it all before.
  16. Another blown money. We throw away money but we sure are cheap on good talent.
  17. My main goal for this group right now is to play .500 ball and tread water. Gosh I just hate saying it every year but we need to get players healthy. If you are a poker player, would the % say it's best to trade a young player right after his first successful season, knowing he probably won't repeat that year? Good example is Duran.
  18. Only 3 games out in the wildcard chase. Plenty of time to leap frog multitude of teams.
  19. I'm staying positive. Really encouraged by our three rookie starting pitchers. I think you can buy position player with lesser risk than pitchers. Just draft all pitchers every year.
  20. It's insane to keep doing the same thing. Maybe changing up the routine will free him.
  21. Moon, I told you Whitlock is not very good. If we need him to pitch the 8th inning, we're in trouble. Other than Crochet, has anyone lived up to their new contracts?
  22. Red Sox plan calls for Brayan Bello to make next start, but perhaps with aid of an opener I called this couple of weeks ago.
  23. Let's hope Crochet, Suarez, Tolley, Early and Bennett all throw from different slots.
  24. A 6-6 guy, pitch to contact, interesting. I'm good as long as he's not walking everyone. I refuse to consider anyone that can't throw strikes in the majors as a 'pitcher'.
