  1. I love that Burgos may have 2 straight 3 inn games....love it. He I bet loves it too.
  2. It's like the line in The Natural by Robert Duvall..."homers, doubles, singles. how can somebody play that well that came from nowhere?"...that's the Red Sox, they have 9 Roy Hobbs
  3. Rogers handled Tolle quite well.
  4. actually pretty good explanation. very short span theater out there.
  5. for all the WS teams, and great teams that I loved 2003, 1975, 1977-78 and a few others that fell short, this is the most improbable, epic run by a Sox team you'll ever see--a team that was so bad it was unwatchable first 3 months of the season. It still is just mind-boggling. How do you flip a switch like this with mostly the same players?
  6. this is insane...another big hit...and Wong/Seigler were great tonight...4 RBI. 4 hits
  7. It's definitely the Moneyball angle...believe in the philosophy, the players. 2013 was the Motley Crew squad, but still had some marquee players as part of the equation mixed in with grizzled vets and a few young guys. The 04, 07 and 18 WS teams were high profile, high salary positively. Henry is chuckling right now, Breslow is beaming as he should and Tracy has been a terrific field boss. Go Sox!
  8. The guys that are helping team win are the guys that are playing right now, not the Meads, the Storys, the Anthonys, even Crochet...the catcher they acquired is perfect need and once he is healthy catching will be two-way instead of defense only. I don't care if Monasterio and Sogard (plus Seigler) aren't the end all for people, but I can tell that you when you go 30-5, these are mojo guys, and they are playing stellar defense despite the analytics. I got an eye test at Dodger Stadium, pretty f***ing good.
  9. If Mona is "not good defensively" you could have fooled me in the Dodger series and really during the streak. I think he has been playing outstanding on defense, making some great plays. I really think Story is a DH if he does return...he can supply the righty power as DH. Never should Story see the field again.
  10. they were the solo HR team for a while, and infrequent at that. But definitely more runners on base HRs to go with a ton of solos.
  11. Sox have hit more HRs than any other team in MLB since July 9....Abreu is on an epic run of dingers to get to 20...he was part of the problem like so many earlier in the season...certain guys who needed to step up were not in Abreu, Duran, Durbin, Yoshida (not for power)--now they all are..and you still have the real MVP (not pitchers) in Contreras, who has not been really around much due to suspension, injury, sickness, hit in head, etc of late--then you have Rafaela going off as best all-around player really during the 30-5 run. This is sick good, really awesome positives. Go Sox!
  12. I keep using the word--insane...this is beyond insane...incredible run
  13. Don't forget I have bandwagoned like no other, I have given up on this team so often last several seasons, I can't even imagine. But it's the lack of entertainment of the team, often lack of power--and then this thing happens and it's getting to a point where it's mythical. I'm a bad fan, but I'll take the hit. I am excited about this squad right now and playoffs certainly looks like a possibility of a lot of fun.
  14. Monasterio is 27 for last 77....a .350 clip, hit safely including tonight 16 of last 17 games, 9 doubles, a triple, 3 dingers and 13 RBI since July 1...OBP is .415 since July 1....this is not a fluke...plus it wasn't seen in the highlights and I kept telling my brother about the play at Dodger Stadium...Bello was about to get touched for some runs and it was 1st and 2nd and a smash by Teoscar Hernandez is going into LF when AM somehow backhands it and makes a monster throw from deep hole to throw him out and make it 2nd and 3rd. Muncy was IBB and Bello got out of the jam with a Sox 4-3 lead...that's GG defense from him and he had a diving stop in same game. This guy is legit going forward.
  15. It's the defense though..they upgraded the catcher hitting, so it was one or the other...I think Monasterio will continue to hit, and I think I don't care if Mead comes back or not--not the best defender...Mojo is mojo. I was happy with a lefty RP and an All-Star catcher. But totally get your points.
  16. Monasterio and Sogard's defense in the Dodger series and a few big OF throws by Abreu and Cedann were part of why Sox are continuing this streak of greatness. Hitters all rubbing off each other, but the defense has been exceptional, the pen is outright ridiculously great (and added Miller). I got to really watch Monasterio and this guy is like what Cabrera did in 2004 but better to me. Duran might be the "worst player statistically in MLB" according to him even! and he sucked so bad that his 19 RBI in July was 2nd among Red Sox players behind the red-hot Rafeala...I'm drinking whatever moon is drinking and whatever Breslow is offering. Go Sox!
  17. And the Dodgers are going to pieces helped by the Sox sweep, and I was at the July 31st game...this can't be any better.
  18. This entire run is like Breslow got a gift from the baseball gods after being dumped on by the same baseball gods. Now everything he touches is turning to gold and every move the Sox have made has paid off. This is such a stunning turnaround. It's not just baffling, but completely out of left field. Go Sox! Great to enjoy games again.
  19. This is a streak that borderlines absurd and amazing.
