  1. Bradley is this year’s Ottavino. A questionable contract Bloom took on to get some prospects he values…
  2. One thing about this trade is it shows Bloom will sell high. It’s always tough to sell anything high because you don’t always know it’s at its peak value. But here’s the thing - most times, you really do know…
  3. The most obvious option is the guy already here - Jarren Duran…
  4. Calling Story to the Astros. For the money they offered Correa earlier. I think Correa goes to the Carolina Panthers and takes over for Sam Darnold. Not like he could do that much worse…
  5. I’m not up to “like” but I’m not quite at “hate to the point of panic.” Like I said, sometimes he just knows something about these jalopies. I’m more in the “let’s see how this plays out” phase…
  6. Defense? And to get a couple prospects? I have wanted Bradley back, but I also wanted to keep Renfroe. Maybe the plan is for JBJ to be Duran’s late inning defensive replacement? Or maybe this was to move Kike to 2b and Verdugo to RF to open up LF for a much more exciting hitter. Schwarber? Kris Bryant? Nick Castellanos? Mike Conforto? Maybe an Oakland salary dump like Ramon Laureano?
  7. Possible. Of course both had extremely strong stretches with the Sox. Especially Richards once he moved to the bullpen. And the Sox DID get very far in the postseason with those guys on the roster, so it’s not like they prevented anything. I think the plan for Hill is to last until Paxton is ready. Then his ever-present blisters can come back…
  8. His moves excite no one, but a lot of people were critical of his plan last off-season and a lot of people were critical of him at the trade deadline, and yet the team turned out pretty good. Maybe he knows something about these jalopies we don’t?
  9. Well, would you prefer a Sox team that signed no big deals and went to the ALCS? Or do you like the Yankee way of stacking up big contact after big contract with Stanton and Cole and Hicks and LeMahieu and Chapman, all so they can play one playoff game and lose it?
  10. Per B-R.com, he has signed seven contracts with the Sox, but this is his first one since 2015…
  11. So.. is there going to be Rule 5 draft this year?
  12. Well, I think we can safely assume that every player who has signed so far hasn’t gotten a bigger offer from another team…
  13. Wow. You almost met SBF. I always thought he was not a human but just some haywire AI program that was more into “artificial” than “intelligence.”
  14. Do you really think none of the 29 other teams were interested in either player?
  15. Refsnyder to starting 2b
  16. That show is really largely just SBF’s home movies…
  17. Well SBF probably voted for Mercury…
  18. No. None of that. We need more threads about politics. (Kidding in a major way.)
  19. The Chicago Bar Association might want a word with you…
  20. I think MLB rules prohibit the Sox (or any team) from picking up a player who has already signed with another club…
  21. Can I still wear my “Nader 2024” tee shirt?
  22. No. The question is - why don’t you appreciate a good player like IKF? He can field just about any position, including catcher. He has a terrific glove - including hardware to prove it - and a good arm. He has decent speed, but nowhere near elite speed, but he makes up for it y being a savvy base runner. He doesn’t in walk a lot and he rarely hits for power. Do the Yankees really need more walks and more power? Get IKF and bat him ninth. He’s like Taylor Wade but without the expendability. I would not mind seeing Bloom pursue IKF at all…
  23. It really makes sense from a business and a baseball standpoint. If Max Scherzer needs TJ surgery at some point next season, it would cost the Mets roughly $80mill. That’s more money than the entire payroll of the team that had the best record in the American League last year…
  24. So by her own statement about people, was Eleanor Roosevelt being small-minded?
  25. By his logic, no one else was in on Seager. So what was Texas thinking?
