  1. BTV gives Robertson a surplus value of 0.7, which makes him equal to many Sox prospects, none of whom are very exciting. Nick Northcut (0.8) is probably the most intriguing game based on 2022 numbers…
  2. Possibly the dumbest theory out here. Even if the Cubs sweep the Sox, the Sox are still in the playoff picture..
  3. Robles was handed a pathetically easy situation today. Protect a 2 run lead by getting 3 outs from the 7-8-9 hitters from one of, if not the worst lineups in MLB today. Outside of mop up work, that’s one of the easiest assignments a pitcher can get. And two outs later, Robles was removed from a tie game with the bases loaded. He’s just not an MLB pitcher right now…
  4. You don’t miss much. Cora lobbed his Bullpen Grenade Crew into action…
  5. Again, the Sox still have the sixth highest payroll in MLB. What’s his complaint? That anything below top five is basically the Pirates?!?? Just because they didn’t spend that money where you wanted it spent doesn’t mean it doesn’t count. If you don’t like the Sox current payroll situation, a lot of that is on the guy who ran up the quarter billion dollar bar tab…
  6. Cora clearly hates Red Sox Nation. All of us. He hates us all with a passion. My evidence is how often he lets Robles pitch…
  7. The Sox are not going to unnecessarily deplete bullpen depth. Even Bracchio wasn’t dealt until after a DFA due to him having no options left. I could see Danish, who has options, getting demoted. I could see Robles getting DFAd followed by a demotion or a minor league deal (again). In fact, I hope he gets DFAd…
  8. I think neither happen…
  9. And they should be booted from Little League and banned for life. If you don’t let kids make mistakes, they never learn how to prevent them….
  10. You miss him already. Admit it. It’s ok…
  11. I wouldn’t say “all year” with Whitlock. The Sox have multiple starters very capable of creating rotation vacancies with their own fragility. Including Whitlock. But as much as we want bullpen help, there will be none coming from outside the organization for the next 4 weeks. With Sale due back, they should gain one arm with the trickle-down effect. Ditto Eovaldi. And Taylor is apparently mending nicely. Certainly none of this guarantees a better bullpen, but I do guarantee they will all get something of a chance…
  12. We’re clearly selling. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/06/braves-acquire-silvino-bracho-from-red-sox.html
  13. Watching the Cubs tonight, I saw Cubs SS Nico Hoerner possibly make the worst defensive play I have ever seen in MLB game me. With the shift on and a ball batted to the right side he 1) collided with David Bote 2) held the ball for several seconds while the runner headed to third and then 3) threw the ball to an unmanned third base. Watch for it on MLB tonight…
  14. This is the first season he’s hit under .300 in the minors. As for his odds, they work against most prospects…
  15. I believe the official term for them was “advisers”…
  16. It probably won’t be JBJ. He was brought in to improve outfield defense, and he has done that. They probably didn’t expect him to hit all that much, and he’s done that too. Duran should stay. But unlike Bradley and Hernandez, he has options. And demoting him allows the Sox to keep everyone. My choice would be Kike to 1b, Duran in CF, Bradley/Refsnyder in RF and Dalbec (who also has options) to Worcester. If the Sox release JBJ, and an OF gets hurt, who starts then?
  17. Any bullpen can carry an underperforming reliever that they hope can bounce back and at least contribute. The problem with the Sox is they have four such relievers…
  18. Anyone left you care to see in there? Really?
  19. And we’ve seen this show before…
  20. Yes, he definitely makes Robles look like he’s been dead for 60 years. But just about any hitter does that as well…
  21. This is the Sox best chance. They need to score at least one here, as Zimmer, Tapia and Chapman are due up and the rest of this Sox bullpen can’t handle anything else in the Toronto lineup, assuming they can even get those three…
