  1. Which is why I pointed out Bradley and Renfroe are pretty close in that department…
  2. Renfroe was a better deal, but he didn’t outhit Betts using any metric…
  3. Looking at this again, my first thought is - no, Devers is not in the same class as Soto. Soto has a career OPS+ of 159 at age 23. At that age, Devers’ career OPS+ was 115. Devers is a great player and a perennial All Star, but Soto is next level, possibly multiple levels ahead. I wouldn’t give Devers a blank check, but at his age an 8 year $240 mill is my ceiling. My fear is that’s what Bogaerts’ is thinking he’s worth, and Devers has even crazier contract demands…
  4. In didn’t want him traded, but it did get to the point where it was clear he was not going to re-sign…
  5. Would you have handed Betts a blank check?
  6. What was the Sox original offer to Devers?
  7. No. Bear in mind that we didn’t have Story yet, so Kike made the most sense at 2b…
  8. Well, bear in mind your initial take on this trade was about RBIs. About a quarter of the way through the season, Renfroe only has 5 more…
  9. Even if you didn’t like the trade, you have to be pretty clueless to still scratch your head about why it was made. Last year’s outfield play was very weak. Couple that with prospects and JBJ had plenty of reasons to show he should bounce back and it is obvious why it was made…
  10. In only 31 hits!
  11. JBJ wasn’t brought in to hit like Renfroe…
  12. Strahm has been terrific, but much like Whitlock/Greg Maddux comparisons, time will change your mind here…
  13. Robles is a guy whose numbers don’t tell the story about how bad he is actually pitching. And his numbers aren’t even that good…
  14. What notable player was given up for Rizzo? And of Bloom swung a deal for a player like Schwarber without giving up anything, why do you think that’s a bad thing?
  15. Kyle Schwarber doesn’t count? The guy has a .910 OPS and 25 HRs when the Sox acquired him. I’d count that as a notable acquisition…
  16. The thing is, they don’t have to prove themselves in Boston to help. They just have to prove themselves enough in the minors to make other GMs notice…
  17. I believe as this was a 2023 depth chart, Strahm has not yet been determined to return…
  18. If anyone in the Sox pen is fooling fans, it’s Robles, whose hard hit% and barrel % and exit velocity are right up there with Brasier’s…
  19. Why sign an RP7/RP8 when we have a perfectly (in)capable one already in Barnes? (Pretend this is green)
  20. Yes, the plan is to replace them with worse players. You found the flaw…
  21. Well done. He does need to do that more often…
  22. Hardly unique behavior…
  23. Even your input that I feel is motivated by your fandom of the Evil Empire is welcome. I’ve never seen a Sox forum that didn’t have serious, non-trolling Yankee fans. And frankly I think that if there is such thing as a Yankee-free Sox forum, it isn’t any good..,
