  1. I do hope they improve, but the whole idea that they just need a closer is a massive oversimplification. They got rid of Diekman, Robles, Strahm, Davis and Sawamura and will hopefully follow suit with Ort and a couple others. They probably keep Barnes and Brasier, much to my chagrin. Right now the bullpen looks like those two with Houck, Schreiber, and Kelly. And Taylor if he recovers…
  2. … which means what? I don’t see anyone capable of being Manny or Ortiz either. I’m not saying the Sox don’t need bullpen help, but comparing their current and even future staff to all time top ten players will always be wrong…
  3. … which is why worrying about the starting lineup between the World Series and Thanksgiving is a pointless task
  4. I think if someone looked into it, probably about half of the WSC in recent years changed closers midseason. This includes the Red Sox in 2013…
  5. Extremely weak and faulty logic. Dalbec started a game at shortstop. Did that make him capable of being a major league shortstop?
  6. What if it looked like the Phillies’ bullpen of 2022?
  7. So multiple relievers capable of being the closer is a bad thing?
  8. Oh give me all the closer-caliber relievers we can afford!!
  9. I think Houck, like him or not, has a leg up on the closer role if he’s healthy…
  10. Houck is the only name that bothers me. Although I consider Sale and Bello to occupy one spot. If Sale is healthy, he pitches and someone needs to step aside. (Whitlock could go to the pen as another option, but I hope they don’t keep bouncing him around.)
  11. Also is Judge going to be under $300mill? The guy turned down $210/7 already, and that was before his absolutely historic season…
  12. You left out 2023 Sox RF Joey Gallo…
  13. If financial flexibility is part of the risk, do they exist?
  14. Oh f***. Is this one of those deferred money deals? How many more years? This board had a ton of DD Supporters rooting for the Phillies so DD could, and I quote, “stick it to Henry.” Well I think DD already did that with this Sale contract…
  15. Use free agency to build the bullpen. I’ve repeatedly shilled for Montero and Fulmer. Two other intriguing names are Robert Suarez and Miguel Castro…
  16. Probably better off without either. As you said, e already have Sale at a $29mill AAV…
  17. Ok. Didn’t we all realize that a year ago? At least the “high risk” part?
  18. In other news, water remains wet…
  19. Red Sox 2023 starting shortstop Carlos Correa has opted out of his deal with the Twins…
  20. Henry is trading Liverpool for Judge…
  21. Most definitely…
  22. The guy’s net worth is probably greater that that of the bottom 20 owners combined…
  23. … which goes hand in hand with my theory…
  24. It’s official https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/xander-bogaerts-opt-out-of-red-sox-contract.html
